  3. 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  4. 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  5. 1 1/2 cups Neelys BBQ Sauce, reserving 1/2 cup for the top, recipe follows
  6. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  7. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  8. 1 cup chopped red onion
  9. 1 medium red bell pepper, chopped
  10. Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  11. 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  12. 2 pounds lean ground turkey
  13. 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
  14. 1 1/2 cups paprika
  15. 3/4 cup sugar
  16. 3 3/4 tablespoons onion powder
  17. 2 cups ketchup
  18. 1 cup water
  19. 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  20. 5 tablespoons light brown sugar
  21. 5 tablespoons sugar
  22. 1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
  23. 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  24. 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
  25. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  26. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix BBQ seasoning, crab boil seasoning, soy sauce, beaten egg, 1 cup of the BBQ sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. In a saute pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Add onion, bell pepper, salt and pepper and garlic. Saute until tender. Remove from heat and add to wet mix.
  4. Pour mixture into bowl with the ground turkey. Add bread crumbs and mix all together with your hands.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a cookie sheet or baking pan. Using your hands, shape the meat into an oblong or rectangular shape. *Cook’s Note: Alternately, you can pat the meat into a 9 by 5-inch loaf pan and pour 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce on the top of the loaf.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes. Remove and add the reserved 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce to the top and continue to bake for 20 more minutes.
  7. Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir until combined. Keep in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  8. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for 1 hour 15 minutes.

How great to see recipes with ingredients you already have in your pantry, nothing exotic or hard to find.  Thanks Neelys!

I used this recipe for the liquid to solid proportions, Used my own bbq sauce, wrapped it in rendered bacon ( still pliable but not crisp ) and smoked it with hickory chips in my ceramic grill Yummy!

This is the best new version of an old recipe. As a child I hated meat loaf.  The sound of it made me lose my appetite.  I’ve got nothing but love, and good things to say about this recipe.  It’s awesome!

My family’s favorite barbecue turkey meatloaf.
The flavoring is excellent. Love he vegetables to turkey proportions. The sauce and seasoning lasts for many recipes.
A winner for sure .

Gooey, The recipe is poorly written. Cant tell which ingredients go in the sauce or which go in the seasoning recipes. The sauce and seasoning recipes were suppose to follow but I only see the seasoning recipe but that looks like a sauce. I took a chance and tried to figure it out… What waste of ground turkey.

Very good! We added cayenne pepper to the BBQ sauce so it was sweet, tangy and spicy! We had to look up other Neely recipes to clarify on the ingredients for the BBQ sauce and the BBQ seasoning. Not sure why you have to make so much BBQ seasoning when you are only going to use 1 tablespoon for the recipe. The baking time needed to be adjusted for more time. Maybe next time we will flatten out the loaf or make 2 small loafs. Overall, very good and it is going in my recipe book!

Made this as directed and me and my family really enjoyed it. I used a bottle of BBQ sauce that was on hand and a McCormick BBQ seasoning blend. I didn’t include the Old Bay and it was still flavorful. The texture was very soft, almost too soft but I still think it deserve 5 stars.
