Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 pounds ground lamb
  2. 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  3. 1/2 pound feta cheese, crumbled
  4. 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  5. 1/3 cup fresh parsley leaves, coarsely chopped
  6. Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  7. 4 to 6 rolls or buns
  8. Easy Tzatziki, recipe follows
  9. 1 cup Greek whole milk yogurt
  10. 1 English cucumber, seeded, finely grated and drained
  11. 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  12. 1 teaspoon lemon zest plus 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  13. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  14. Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the lamb, garlic, feta, allspice, parsley, salt and pepper, making sure not to overwork the mixture. Form the lamb mixture into 4 to 6 patties.
  2. Heat a grill pan over moderately-high heat and cook the lamb burgers until a nice crust forms, about 4 minutes. Turn the burgers over and let cook another 4 minutes. Let the burgers rest 10 minutes. Serve topped with Easy Tzatziki on a roll or bun.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice and dill. Season with salt and pepper. Chill.
  4. What Really Makes This Recipe Sing: Allspice is one of those secret weapons in savory foods. You can’t put your finger on it, but you know it is there. It was named by the English, because they thought it contained cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Shh, it is also the secret ingredient in Cincinnati-style chili.
  5. What to toss in if you have it: Feel free to add some chopped fresh mint to this as well. Having a cocktail party? BYOC and makes these into mini’s. Grab one before you serve because they will disappear fast.

Just made these lamb burgers and they were delicious!

I’ve been making these for several years now. And every time they’re perfect. Especially on a brioche bun with tzatziki.

Excellent recipe!  Surprised to see allspice as an ingredient but it definitely added that special taste. Best lamb burger I ever made!

Fantastic recipe!  These lamb burgers are juicy and so full of flavor.  Allspice sets it over the top.  I did add a cheat and used store bought Tzatziki.  I am looking forward to making them again.  I put them on a toasted Brioche bun with red onion, tomato, and romaine lettuce.  So good!

I am not kidding, this was the best lamb burger I have ever had in my life.  It was delicious.  I was scared about the all spice, but it made the burger.   The Tzatziki was perfect.  I put it on a brioche bun with red onion and tomato and I was in heaven.

Delicious, both the burgers and the sauce just as instructed.  I disagree with a prior review about the lemon zest. I find it adds so much good flavor.

I’ve made this several times now and it comes out fantastic every time. It’s now a staple in our weekly line up. I pair this with some quick pickled red onions for some extra crunch.

I am a food critic.  This was nothing short of spectacular even though I left out the garlic and allspice.  I was rushing to make this after work.  I bought gormet greek cheese.  My wife told me not to cook it.  …..I ignored her and cooked it anyway.  She ate it.  Loved it.  Even apologized lol.  She just thought lamb burgers did not sound good.

This is a great recipe.  I think this may be the best burger that one can make–period!  It is that good!!!
