Ingredients

  1. 1 medium Fuji apple, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  2. 12 to 15 pieces Red Hots Cinnamon Flavored Candy
  3. 1/2 sheet (2 crackers) low-fat cinnamon graham crackers
  4. 2 tablespoons fat-free whipped topping (from an aerosol canister), or more for optional topping
  5. Dash cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Put apple cubes in a microwavable cup or mug. Top with Red Hots. Cover and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir well. Re-cover and microwave for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, until apple cubes are soft.
  2. Meanwhile, place graham crackers in a plastic bag and thoroughly crush through the bag; set aside.
  3. Once cup or mug is cool enough to handle, mix contents well. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Top with most of the crushed graham crackers followed by the whipped topping. Add an extra serving of whipped topping, if you like.
  5. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon and remaining crushed grahams. Voila!

Nearly all of the hungry girl recipes are simply awful. They are full of processed foods and they just don’t taste good- waxy, fake, or too salty. I am terribly disappointed in the recipes and I am sad that food network even lists them now that I have had a chance to try some.

This was so good. I was able to find the red hots. I used about 20 pieces. I was amazed that I was satisfied after eating one serving. I will be making this recipe again and again.

I added some Stevia sugar and 1/8 tsp King Arthur cinnamon to the graham cracker. This wonderful apple pie substitute will be on my favorites list. It was delicious!

YUMMY! A perfect fall/winter repast – and if you want to use Hot Tamales – they’re in the 99cent store!!!!

Instead of Red Hots which I just read in other reviews are expensive as well as hard to find I used Hot Tamales that I found in the candy isle in CVS for about $1.69.

Purely awesome and simple to make! Made a couple small changes; used crushed molasses cookies instead of graham crackers and it was excellent…a new dessert favorite!
