I saw Sunny make this on her show several years ago and was motivated by a comment she made about how when she was a kid she would have canned half pears with a dollop of mayonnaise and shredded cheddar for a “salad” and I almost fainted because my mom served us kids the same thing and we loved it! Creamy, salty, sweet, cheddar-cheesy…brilliant. I still eat pears this way. So I had to make this dessert, and yes the cheddar is a must. I have made this dish many times; so easy and comforting and delicious. Please try. Thank you, Sunny, for a trip down memory lane!

how does someone show a perfect score of 5 stars when there are one and two star reviews, is it the average

I should have read the reviews before I made it and lowered the temp because the butter and sugar went all over the pan and burned. I agree with the other reviewers – too much butter and sugar. And the cheese was unnecessary. It was very simple though. I would use fresh pears next time and maybe add cream cheese. I also wouldn’t cut it until I served it – I thought that step was unnecessary.

Great dessert. We, occasionally, cook a dinner at a senior center for 55 to 60 people. We used this as our dessert, at the last dinner. I had to go home and print 45 copies of the recipe. It was that great. We have tried this with different fruits. Outcome still the same. GREAT!

Made these for a Superbowl party. Quick, easy and delicious. But other reviewers are right about the temperature. I set the temp for 400 degrees and at 14 minutes, when I checked them, they were just starting to burn. I am making them, per request, next week for another party. I will lower the oven temp and check on them frequently. Also, I might try a few with blue cheese in the place of the cheddar.
