Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  2. 1 1/2 cups milk
  3. 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 1/8 teaspoon salt
  5. 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  6. 3 drops peppermint oil
  7. Sweetened whipped cream, for garnish
  8. Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the cream, milk, sugar, and salt and heat over medium-low heat. When the cream mixture just begins to steam, add the chopped chocolate, and stir, until melted. Stir in the peppermint oil. Divide the hot chocolate among mugs and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Fabulous hot chocolate! I didn’t want saturated fat overload so I made it with 1% milk and garnished it with whipped cream. Delicious!

Amazing, the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. I topped it with marshmallows instead of whipped cream, which melted beautifully into the chocolate. Next time I’ll probably use more milk and less cream, because it is really heavy and rich… one cup will leave you completely satisfied.
