Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Grated zest 1 lemon
- Grated zest 1 lime
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 pint raspberries, rinsed
- 1/2 pint blueberries, rinsed
- 1/2 pint strawberries, rinsed, tops trimmed, halved or quartered, if large
- 1 pint vanilla frozen yogurt
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, citrus zests, and water. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and add the citrus juices and vanilla. Combine the berries in a bowl. Pour the warm syrup over the berries and marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes. Serve marinated berries over a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt.

This recipe tasted good. I would put a little less zest though.
This was GREAT!! It smelled and tasted like candy and it was a really good summer dessert.
I enjoyed all the berry flavors with the citrus background. Did not feel I was cheating on my diet.
I served this to my two valentines (hubby and son) on Valentines Day. It was great. I used only strawberries and blackberries. After the mixture cooled, I put french vanilla ice cream in parfait glasses, spooned in the fruit marinate (syrup only!) and topped with more ice cream, then put in freezer. At serving time, I ladled the berries AND syrup over the ice cream and topped with fresh whipped cream. WOW! Who said valentines were just for girls???
this is a nice dessert morning, evening or night. I add blackberries and instead of frozen yogurt i use vanilla ice cream
Fruit was decent when served with ice cream…needed more flavor to be considered great.
What a wonderful recipe. Fresh, healthy, colorful and let me not forget….good for you! The berries soak up the fresh juices and will melt in your mouth. Excellent dessert anytime of the year.
