Ingredients

  1. 8 ounces softened cream cheese
  2. 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  3. 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  4. 1/3 cup milk
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 1 store-bought or homemade chocolate cookie crust
  7. 1 cup heavy cream
  8. Shaved chocolate, for serving

Instructions

  1. Beat the cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the sugar, the cocoa powder, milk and vanilla extract in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until fluffy. 
  2. Spread in the chocolate cookie crust. 
  3. Beat the heavy cream with the remaining 2 tablespoons of the sugar in a second medium bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form, then spread over the cream cheese layer. Top with shaved chocolate.

I was looking for a quick way to use up heavy cream. This was everything I wanted. I did the online “watch class” and someone asked the instructor a question; can the heavy cream mixture be put into the cream cheese chocolate part of the pie instead of on top? The answer was “yes”, to fold it into the chocolate part of the pie. I elected to do this and it worked out great. Made it lighter, a delicious dessert. I had a graham crust.

This pie was very tasty! Read the reviews before I made the pie and added a little bit of sugar and decreased the cocoa powder slightly, I also made my own crust with chocolate teddy grahams, sugar, and butter. Made Alton Browns recipe for whipped cream with a little vanilla extract added. And I shaved up a chocolate bunny for the topping. Will definitely make again.  This pie is amazing!!!

I’ve made this twice now. I don’t understand all of the negative reviews. It’s a little bitter for me but I am using unsweetened cocoa powder and she does say you can use sweetened or unsweetened. I think i will add a bit more sugar next time. I also double the chocolate part of the pie as it’s just not that much with one block of cream cheese, etc. Also, I used crumbled up chocolate peanut butter oreos for the crust and put a bit of peanut butter in the whipping cream. Peanut butter whipped cream is so good and the peanut butter flavor really adds another layer to the pie.

This is a very easy chocolate cream cheese pie. I added the heavy cream to the chocolate filling mixture. It is very light and fluffy. I did however add a little bit more cocoa powder as I think the cream diluted the chocolate flavor a bit. I will make this again for sure.
