Ingredients
- 4 (1.5-ounce) chocolate covered wafer candy bars (recommended: Kit Kat)
- 15 individually wrapped caramels
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 3 teaspoons shortening, divided
- 3 cups caramel corn with peanuts (recommended: Cracker Jack)
Instructions
- Unwrap candy bars and place face down on waxed or parchment paper; set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramels with butter. Heat in microwave on HIGH heat for about 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted.
- Combine white chocolate with 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening in a medium bowl and place over a pot of simmering water to form a double boiler. Repeat with chocolate chips and remaining shortening. Heat both chocolates until melted and smooth, making sure to stir frequently. Remove from heat and set aside.

Drizzle with remaining melted milk chocolate, white chocolate and remaining melted caramel. Place in refrigerator for 20 minutes to set.

Reviews
They looked good and the person I made them for loved them. HOWEVER, they were NOT easy to make – they should have been easier, considering some of the semi-homemade ingredients. It was tough to stack and stick the popcorn on the candy bars – the popcorn kept falling off & I kept having to try to stick it together with more melted caramel and melted chocolate. It might have worked better if the popcorn were put on in a single layer – but the picture shows it mounded and that looks very nice. The finished product was too large & that made it difficult to bite into it. In addition, a lot of the popcorn fell off once you bit into it. I would NOT make again as written, but I think there are ways to change the recipe to make it work better, for example, to chunk up the ingredients and press into bars. It would be even better if you started using homemade caramel corn – it would be a little more work, but it would make everything stick together much easier.
Turned out EXCELLANT !! Followed directions—–this makes a lot.
Outstanding. I gave all but one out for Halloween treats. If I had known how great they tasted the kids could have had the lousy m&m’s instead.
Like a few other viewers, these require you to have teeth of iron. All in all, they were okay, but a bit too sweet for my pallet.
This is the BEST thing i have ever tasted !!! It was so good, i have to say it was a little bit tricky to follow, but i still keep it going…. and it was DELICIOUS !!!! My mom and sister and I loved it for our party ! It was so good(: I loved it ! Thank you so much for showing it on your show !!! Can’t wait to try some of your other recipes !
I agree with previous viewer, need teeth of steel to eat these! I made these, but with changes.. Instead of kit kats, I used Hershey bars, and made them smaller, using only 4-6 squares of the chcolate bar. I used the melted chocolate to hold the caramel corn on the bar, and then just drizzled the melted chcolate and melted white chocolate over the tops. Didnt use the caramel, made for a very hard treat. Using the caramel corn was enough. Wonderful treat and easier for my family to enjoy! Also,I allowed the melted chocolate to cool a bit before adding it to the chcolate bar.
I thought it had a good flavor, but was very hard to eat. It was extremly chewy and very difficult to even bite a piece off. I will not make it again for that reason alone. Even though this recipe looks like a very fun kids dessert, I definetly do not recomend for children and anyone with sesitive or weak teeth. Thats why I only gave one star even though it was good it should also be edible and this really wasn’t and frankly I was mad about the money I spent to make it when noone could even eat it! I really don’t understand the ones that gave this a good review, they must have teeth of steel!
This was one of the HARDEST recipes to follow!!! The carmel was NOT smooth and the Chocolate was chunky and lumpy!!! I could not work fast enough to make this dish!! Sandra does not accurately show how to make this dish!! It is posted as easy but i’d say it is EXTREMELY hard!!!!!!!!
I WAS ONE FOOT OUT THE DOOR UNTIL I FOUND THIS RECIPE. WHEN MY FIANCE’ GOT A BITE OF THIS I WAS BACK IN THE HOUSE.
THANKS FOR THE RECIPE AND SAVING ME ONCE AGAIN.
