Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  2. 1/4 cup butterscotch topping
  3. 2 tablespoons whipped butter, room temperature
  4. 1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda
  5. Old-fashioned butterscotch candy sticks, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine condensed milk, butterscotch topping, and butter in a glass heatproof measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir until butter has melted and incorporated into mixture. Meanwhile heat cream soda in another heatproof measuring cup for 1 minute 30 seconds.
  2. Divide butterscotch mixture between two 10- to 12-ounce mugs. Fill mugs with heated cream soda and stir thoroughly. Serve garnished with an old-fashioned butterscotch candy stick.

It turned out great for my family!  I don’t know if this might have been what caused others to think it was too sweet, but I made sure to use salted whipped butter to balance out the sweetness of the other ingredients rather than unsalted whipped butter like I originally thought would be best.  I hope this little bit of information can help someone else when they try the recipe!

SOooo easy to make and perfect taste. We dont heat the cream soda, just use it room temp and then its more like the books describe it. Love it!!!

My daughters enjoyed making this with me. It looked amazing in a glass, and tasted buttery and yummy! We did end up adding some milk to cut the sweetness. This is a fun and easy treat we will definitely make again!
