Ingredients

  1. Deselect All
  2. Nonstick cooking spray
  3. 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  4. 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  5. 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  7. 2 large eggs
  8. 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  9. 2 tablespoons Dutch process cocoa
  10. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  11. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  12. 3/4 cup chopped salted almonds
  13. 34 cup milk chocolate chips
  14. 1 cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Fit a sheet of foil over a 9 by 9-inch baking pan and leave a 2-inch overhang for the handles. Spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Add the butter and chocolate to a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir until melted and smooth, then remove from the heat. Stir in the brown sugar, and vanilla. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, and stir until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Add this dry mixture, in increments, to the chocolate mixture, and mix well until smooth. Stir in the almonds.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the brownies from the oven, and sprinkle with the chocolate chips and marshmallows. Put the pan back in the oven and bake until the marshmallows are puffy and melted, about 5 more minutes. Let the brownies cool in the pan before removing and slicing.

I want to make good brownies with marshmallows so you will double or triple the recipe!

I will first of all say I do not add the marshmallows. That said, my family loves these, and they are very easy to make!! I made them for the first time a few years ago with left over halloween candy– it was a hodgepodge of different candy bars, however, very delicious!

These were just ok. I like the idea of the marshmallows on top and everything- and instead of just baking for an extra 5 minutes, I actually broiled so that the marshmallows got a little golden on top. But the brownies themselves were not specatcular- not nearly chocolatey or dense enough to be considered brownies- too cakey. In my opinion, brownies should be dense, and ooey gooey chocolatey. Oh, and as one of the other posts said- too salty. I used the exact amount and boy is it salty, not sweet enough.

I was hoping that the other reviews were wrong; these looked like brownies we would enjoy. Don’t bother with this recipe. There are so many other delicious brownie recipes on this site, try one of them.

I have made these brownies twice now thinking maybe I did something wrong by not following the recipe correctly. I will admit sometimes things happen….however, the brownies were very flavorful, they were very dry and the marshmellows were stcky stringy not ooey gooey like I expected. Very Disappointed
Maria Collins
Agree with everyone else….very dry. I had high hopes for these, but do not let the name fool you everyone.

I was expecting these to be amazing- they looked so great on the show. Unfortunately they were extremely dry. The marshmallows also were a little stringy also
Elizabeth Turner
They were too dry to me, they weren’t moist at all, will not be making these again.
Janet Landry
The brownies were still gooey in the middle. And, they tasted very salty. I followed the recipe as written. Will not be making them again.

lemme preface by saying im not really a brownie-person. theyre usually just “meh” for me. but these ones–it was like a flavor explosion in my mouth!! the toasty marshmallows are the star of the show. i think i might like to experiment with other nuts, like pistachio or peanuts. my husband , although not normally a ‘love nuts in my brownie’ kinda guy–in fact, i havent been allowed to nut my brownies since i met him–was practically in tears due to how wonderful these were. now i get why pats eyes roll back into his head whilst he eats one….well, there might be other reasons, but, damn! these are the best!
