Michael Chiarello:

I am Sicilian…100%!!
Had to delete my first comment, even though I believe I was being kind and fair. I must admit my Mediterranean blood was red !!!

You are NOT COOKING Spiedini!!
If you don’t realize that, and If you want to know what real Spiedini is, then please contact me.

Can I ask you, are you Sicilian, you know, an Islander or are you from Italy ??

I am required to rate this, in order to post, and I am sorry Michael, but you so mangled this; my mom, grandmothers, great grandmothers, aunts, cousins -Both Sides- are turning in their graves. Unfortunately, there is not a low enough grade to offer you, so I am forced to give you such a high mark as one star.
Please educate yourself on this wonderful MAIN dish of my Island – yes I own it.. 😉

Please name your other dish anything else.

thank you .

Best

Pete

I just got back from Sicily where I had traditional Spiedini. It is nothing like this recipe at all. The Spiedini I had was a slice of beef with a chickpea flour mixture spread onto it. It was then rolled up and fried in a pan.
This recipe sounds very good, but I don’t think I would consider it to be Spiedini at all.

What a delectable alternative to hot dogs and hamburgers! My family found these to be fun and delicious. This will become a staple due to the quick and easy preparation for a delicious, interesting, and rewarding entree. Thanks, Michael!
