Ingredients

  1. One 8-ounce can original crescent dough
  2. 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  3. 20 mini hot dogs or cocktail franks
  4. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  5. Poppy seeds or sesame seeds
  6. Tangy Dipping Sauce, recipe follows
  7. 1/2 cup sour cream
  8. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  9. 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  10. 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cut each triangle of crescent roll dough into thirds lengthwise, making 3 small strips from each roll.
  3. Brush the dough strips lightly with Dijon mustard. Put the mini hot dogs on 1 end of the dough and roll up.
  4. Arrange them, seam side down, on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds. Bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm with the dipping sauce.
  5. Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving. Can be made a day ahead.

The hotdog and roll part were ok. The dipping sauce had too much mayonnaise, kids and I did not like taste. I knew I should’ve used pioneer woman’s. Plus I threw away half of the dipping sauce too much leftover.

I used this recipe to make a double ring wreath. I laid it out with dough touching before baking. I was concerned they might be hard to pull apart, but they came apart easily. Was beautiful and and didn’t last long at the party. Will definitely do this again.

Another option is to forgo the seeds, mustard and egg wash and just wrap the weenies/sausages and cook as stated, then dip them in apple butter. They make a great addition to a warm breakfast.
