Ingredients

  1. 4 ounces goat cheese
  2. 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  3. 2 garlic cloves, minced
  4. 1 tablespoon freshly chopped basil leaves
  5. 2 tablespoons freshly chopped chives
  6. Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  7. Flour, for work surface
  8. 3/4 pounds store-bought pizza dough
  9. 1 medium red onion, sliced thin
  10. 1 zucchini, cut into thin rounds
  11. 1/4 cup olive oil
  12. 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  13. 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl fold together the goat cheese, cream cheese, garlic and herbs. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper and lightly flour a work surface. With a rolling pin, roll the dough into an oval shape that fits a half sheet tray and lay out on the parchment paper.
  4. Spread dough with the goat cheese mixture, leaving a 1/2-inch edge. Arrange the red onion in a row, overlapping slightly. Repeat with the zucchini.
  5. Brush the red onion, zucchini, and crust with olive oil. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes, salt and pepper, to taste, and the Parmesan. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and using a pizza cutter, slice into thin strips for serving.

By some stroke of luck I had every ingredient on hand so the second this episode was done I whipped it up for lunch. So yummy.

I fixed this recipe for dinner and we loved it. Great flavors! I loved the goat cheese and cream cheese and herb mixture. I used a pizza crust that was store bought and I added a little bit of chicken and some steak. My husband loved it so we will definitely be making it again.

This is an simple dish to make that tastes like you put a lot of work in it. It’s a nice twist on regular cheesy bread and is perfect for parties or potlucks! I plan to make this regularly in the future.

Made this as a new dish of the week for my family. The Cream cheese spread was delicious! My 4 year old twins couldn’t get enough! I I used a homemade pizza dough and added some garlic to the bread dough. I can’t wait to make this again! The Neelys are contributing to some great meals and potlucks in my area!! I love it!

I was drooling over this recipe when I saw Pat and Gina making it on TV. WELL WORTH IT! The combination of squash and onion is refreshing, and the cream cheese goat cheese mixture is wonderful. I did not have chives on hand and used just basil. It turned out fantastic. I will use the cheese mixture and vary up the toppings on my next pizza. Yum!

Saw this episode on TV, and bought the ingredients based on memory. I didn’t recall that goat cheese was in there, so I made it with just the cream cheese. Still came out great, and I look forward to trying it with the goat cheese. I scaled back slighly on the red pepper flakes, and still found it to be adequately spicy. I will make this again for sure.

Also made Gina’s Spicy Creamed Spinach (from the same episode), which was fabulous.

This bread is delicious. I’ve made it several times and it always gets rave reviews. I use my mandoline to slice the vegetables because it gets them perfectly, uniformly, thin. A side note – you can also make this without the creamy spread. When pressed for time, I’ve brushed the dough with garlicky oil (smashed garlic in a little bowl of olive oil), laid the veggies on top, sprinkled with grated parm and Italian seasonings. Delicious too. Thanks Gina and Pat!
