Recipe for basic, easy coffee creamer. Keep in the fridge for a week.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins
Servings: 30
Yield: 30 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups half-and-half
  2. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  3. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine half-and-half, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract together in a container with a lid; cover container and shake vigorously until creamer is smooth.
  2. Wash hands and container thoroughly with soap and warm water before you begin. Additionally, you can sterilize the empty, wet container by microwaving it. Microwave a plastic container for 2 minutes on High or a glass container for 45 seconds on High (remember that metal lids cannot be sterilized in the microwave).
  3. Whole milk can be used in place of half-and-half.

This mix is rich, creamy and exactly what I was hoping it would be!! A much better alternative to the store bought stuff made with mostly vegetable oil!!! It filled a quart-size jar perfectly, too.

I made it with whole milk because I didn’t have the half & half. It tastes good, I have been using store bought French Vanilla and I’m thinking about adding some sugar. The store bought is about 1 Molecule away from plastic.

The only issue here is that Sweetened Condensed Milk (SCM) is measured by weight not volume so 14 ounces (by weight) of SCM may be too little for 16 ounces (by volume) of half-half or milk.

Nice in a pinch even if all you have is 2% milk. The condensed milk makes it smooth and sweet.

I made this for the first time exactly as the recipe called and for my taste buds, it’s perfect. Next time I’ll try mixing in flavors. I like knowing what’s in my food.

This is a good recipe and can be tweaked according to personal taste. I made with 1 Tablespoon vanilla and 2 Tablespoon sugar. Seems thinner or less creamy than store bought and I believe it is because commercial brands have various oils added. Even though this recipe isn’t really healthy, it beats drinking oil.

This was wonderful! I altered the measurements to be 14 oz sweetened Condensed Milk AND 14 oz heavy whipping cream to make it 50:50. It was wonderful!

I won’t make this again. The sweetened condensed milk does nothing for it and it doesn’t taste like my favorite store bought versions at all. I had to add extra sugar and extra vanilla and it still only tasted like half and half.

I use 1tsp of vanilla and its fantastic!

It’s simple to make and you can flavor it almost any way you want. I found that adding the vanilla with some cinnamon and sugar is delicious! Making my own creamer is already saving me money and makes it easy to control my sugar and calorie counts.

If you’re looking for a coffee mate or international delight, this is not it. Not even close really. I was hoping the sweetened milk would be enough to sweeten it to be similar to my fav brand but, no. So, I added some sugar hoping to rescue it and it’s just like I’m drinking coffee with cream and sugar, except I spent more time preparing it. Maybe some torani syrup would give it a better taste?
