The Rusty Nail Cocktail

Dragon fruit’s exterior won’t win any beauty contests, but the fruit’s interior is stunning and serves as the main component of my dragon fruit cake. The magenta flesh has a few small black seeds throughout. Some cultivars feature seeds that are black with white flesh. It has a lovely texture and isn’t overly sweet. The pitaya, often known as dragon fruit, is a type of cactus. I made a purée out of the juice and incorporated it into the cake batter. I then made cake icing out of more of it.

As my wife is from Dublin we use Irish whiskey and Irish Mist. A subtle difference in taste but still sweet and strong!

increased the Drambuie to one oz, so it’s a 1/2 with scotch being two oz. to be correct, I’ve probably made this cocktail thousands of times over these many years. I’m 78.

I’ve had a few of these in my day and paid the price the next morning.

This is a perfect cocktail! Dom’t mess cocktails with slurpy or syrupy ingredients. Either you like the taste of liquor or you don’t. The rest is unneeded extra calories.
