excellent with steaks barbecued outside! Over Memorial Day Weekend in 2005, my son and I developed this dish. Everyone in the family enjoyed it!

Total Time: 15 mins

Yield: 2 1/2 quarts

Ingredients

  1. 6 cold eggs
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 tablespoon white sugar
  4. ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  6. 2 cups cold whipping cream
  7. 2 cups cold milk
  8. ¾ cup cold brandy
  9. ⅓ cup cold spiced rum

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in a bowl using an electric mixer on medium speed until very frothy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, vanilla extract, and nutmeg gradually while beating. Turn the mixer off and manually stir in whipping cream, milk, brandy, and spiced rum. Chill before serving.
  2. This recipe contains raw egg. We recommend that pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and the infirm do not consume raw egg.

This turned out pretty well, not overly boozy, with pure eggnog flavor. I used a sugar substitute (too many indulgences this time of year) in place of sugar and 2% milk (what we drink), and both subs worked out just fine. It’s rich, creamy, and indulgent, and you do need to allow it to chill before serving. A nice cocktail to enjoy over the Holidays.
