My great grandma taught me how to make this dish. The precise measures took some time to determine. These cookies are quite soft, therefore the dough has to chill for a few hours if you plan to use a cutter. My biscuit cutter is three inches. If time is of the essence, you can easily omit these. Add ornamental confections or colored sugar to the tops as desired. Also good on their own, these.

yum very good tasty
I didn’t not have mint extract. So I used mint chocolate chip ice cream instead of vanilla . It was delicious
My kids love these shakes. They love shakes, period, but especially these. We have a ‘fun Friday’ night every week and I rotate a different treat after dinner. These shakes are usually at the top of the request list. I add more ice cream and less milk. Because as is, it’s too runny. I also add crushed up thin mints cookies or mint oreos to the top and sometimes use mint chip ice cream. Delish
This is a great recipe. I made it vegan by using coconut-based vanilla ice cream (that doesn’t taste like coconut), whole fat Next Milk, and vegan True Whip. I actually put a little of the chocolate syrup in the shake mix because it wasn’t sweet enough without it. Delicious. Tasted like mint ice cream. And I hate McD’s shamrock shakes…homemade is perfection.
These are a delicious sweet treat! My spouse craves ‘Shamrock shakes” and these are just as good, if not better.
It didn’t taste good, despite its natural and fresh dairy ingredients. The mint tasted weak but adding more made it taste awful. It was not the delicious concoction I thought it would be.
The flavour was great but we had to add extra ice cream because it was very runny.
looks pretty … and is so YUMMY
Im heavy handed..lol, oops. Kids loved it & enjoyed thr strong mint flavor. Followed recipe & turned it great, I just added a little to much due to not measuring & eyeing everything.
It’s a winner! Followed others advice and used less milk.
There was no left overs. For a richer taste add Malted Milk powder.
I make my own homemade vanilla ice cream add milk to consistanty to a thicker shake. Two teaspoons of mint extract 8 drops of green food coloring and top with whip cream.
As many other reviewers posted, this recipe called for too much milk. I tried this recipe as written, but next time I will try less milk and maybe double the mint extract. Otherwise, it was very good and it has the potential to be great with a few tweaks.
I made this with these two exceptions: 1/2 teaspoon of mint flavoring, and heavy cream instead of milk. So much thicker and creamier. Yum!
yum.
My teenagers were seriously impressed. Thanks for making me a hero!
ok
It’s like the one from McDonal’s but without all the food coloring
McDonald’s has nothing on these!
We made this in one of my classes, we all loved it. I will be making again next year!
I like it with more mint flavoring so instead of only using 1/4 tsp I put in 1/2 tsp instead which made it more of a “shamrock shake” for me. I also added 2 tbsp of sweetened condensed milk which made it more creamy and added just the right amount of sweetness for the kiddos 🙂
