The time required to make limoncello is absolutely worthwhile. To diluted the limoncello to the required proof, use a calculator to determine the alcohol level. The more time this rests, the more relaxed it becomes.

Ingredients
- 4 tea bags
- 12 sprigs fresh mint
- 3 cups boiling water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup orange juice
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 3 cups cold water, or more to taste
- 1 cup light rum, or more to taste
Instructions
- Place tea bags and mint sprigs into a large pitcher. Pour in boiling water; steep for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and mint; before discarding, squeeze excess tea back into pitcher. Stir in sugar until dissolved; add orange juice and lemon juice. Pour in cold water and rum. Refrigerate at least 4 hours to overnight.
- It’s better to use a light rum (also called white or silver rum) rather than a spiced rum in this drink so that the mint and citrus flavors are not overshadowed.
Reviews
I made this for a get together and now I am asked to bring it everywhere. If you like it stronger but don’t want the taste to be overwhelmingly boozy, I recommend using Cruzan Citrus Rum and using equal parts cold water and rum.
Loved this! Very refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness…a definite keeper~YUM!!!! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
