Lemon Drop Cocktail

  5.0 – 1 reviews

The lemon drop is the classic drink, whether it’s sipped from a martini glass, taken straight up as a shot, or spritzed with some club soda. When wine or beer just won’t cut it, try one of these simple home cocktails instead! Below are the directions for a cocktail as well as those for a lemon drop spritzer and shot.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  1. 1 wedge lemon
  2. 1 tablespoon white sugar, or as needed
  3. 2 fluid ounces lemon-flavored vodka
  4. 1 fluid ounce lemon juice
  5. 1 fluid ounce lemon simple syrup
  6. ½ fluid ounce orange-flavored liqueur (such as Cointreau®)
  7. 1 cup ice cubes, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Run lemon wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass to dampen, then dip in sugar to coat.
  2. Combine vodka, lemon juice, lemon simple syrup, and orange-flavored liqueur in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, seal, and shake until shaker frosts over. Pour into a martini glass to serve.
  3. To make lemon simple syrup, combine 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup white sugar, and the peel of 1 lemon (white pith removed) in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then turn off heat and cool to room temperature. Discard lemon peel and store in the refrigerator.
  4. Lemon Drop Spritzer: Follow instructions for cocktail, but add a splash of club soda or some sparkling water.
  5. Lemon Drop Shot: Combine 1/2 ounce lemon-flavored vodka, 1/2 ounce lemon juice, and 1/4 ounce of lemon simple syrup in a shot glass.
