This iced tea is amazing; it tastes just like the top brands!

Ingredients

  1. 8 cups water
  2. 3 orange pekoe tea bags
  3. ¾ cup white sugar
  4. ½ cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat water to a rapid boil. Remove from heat and drop in the tea bags. Cover and let steep for 1 hour.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the steeped tea and the sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then stir in lemon juice. Refrigerate until chilled.

This is a great recipe. I made it as the recipe says except used 1/2 cup sugar instead. I plan on trying it with blueberry tea next So refreshing on a hot day!

4-9.22 It always amazes me to see people buying half gallons of iced tea at the supermarket when it’s so easy and economical to make at home. Not crazy about sweet tea, so I did cut back the amount and substituted Splenda®. This is GOOD iced tea.

This tastes great! I used Lipton Yellow Label tea and 1/2 cup sugar. It’s really good. I will try using just a tiny less lemon next time just to play with the taste but it’s fine with the 1/2 cup of lemon juice. I add the sugar when the steeping is done and the water is still pretty warm. I will never buy store bought again.

I gave this three stars because I basically just used this recipe for the proportions of water to tea but it wasn’t correct. I wound up using 6 tea bags [of blueberry green tea] and had to add 2.5 more cups of water because it was way too sweet and condensed. I enjoyed the amount of tartness from the lemons but I was specifically wanting an iced tea lemonade. The end product was great, and it tastes very similar to a certain famous cafe brand iced tea which was what I was going for. Depending on what the person is looking for, this recipe is probably good for some people but I found it too sweet. If I had only put 3 bags of tea in it wouldn’t have had as strong of a tea flavour.

THIS IS IT. Since where I live doesn’t sell ice tea with the flavor that I want, I decided to try making it on my own. And this recipe is exactly how I wanted it to be! The fabulous mix lemon juice and tea is just perfect, and so is the amount of sugar. Tip: Any type of tea works great. I grabbed the Earl Grey tea bags I had at the time, and they taste just as amazing. But you might need to throw in an extra bag or take away a bag depending on what kind of tea you’re using and if you want the tea flavor stronger. The ratio of sugar is just right, I don’t recommend reducing the sugar, the tea will taste bland and sour. Made it numerous times and all my family enjoyed it.

I’ve made two batches this week and love every drop! I followed the recipe except I substituted stevia for 1 cup of the sugar (I leave a little sugar in for the body to digest) and it tasted fantastic. The only thing I really noticed was it needs to sit for at least an hour after you add the lemon and sugar to blend the flavours.

Great recipe for the proportions. I use left over tea, DH makes a full tea pot in the evening. I put left over tea in a pot in the morning, (minus the tea bags they’ve already steeped overnight) add sugar bring to simmer at medium-hi heat whisk until sugar dissolve. Remove from heat let cool add lemon. Refrigerate & enjoy.

I made 2 servings and made it with 2 regular tea bags. I mixed in the sugar right after boiling the water and while steeping the tea bags in order to ensure the sugar dissolved (as other reviews recommended). I like my iced tea strong and sweet and this was exactly that.
