Homemade Cranberry Liqueur

  4.8 – 5 reviews

If you enjoy zabaglione as is, you’re going to adore the frozen variety. You’ll discover what might be the ideal method for making ice cream without an ice cream maker, in addition to the flavor. Without a machine, frozen desserts frequently have an odd, icy, crystallized texture, but not in this case. This item has an amazing smooth and creamy texture. Include fruit when serving.

Additional Time: 3 days
Total Time: 3 days 15 mins
Servings: 32

Ingredients

  1. 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries
  2. 2 ½ cups vodka
  3. 2 ½ cups simple syrup
  4. ¾ lemon, peeled
  5. ¾ orange, peeled
  6. 1 cinnamon stick
  7. ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice

Instructions

  1. Pulse cranberries in a food processor just until roughly chopped; transfer to a clean glass container. Add vodka, simple syrup, lemon peel, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and allspice to cranberries; stir until well mixed. Seal container with a lid and store in a cool dark area, 3 to 5 days, stirring several times a day. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a glass bottle and refrigerate.
  2. Cheap vodka creates a biting flavor that is hard to get rid of, stick with a mid-range vodka.
  3. If your glass container is new, clean multiple times until no smell is detected. Any smell will infuse itself into your liqueur.

I bottled enough to give away at Christmas. It was a huge hit!

Excellent recipe just as written! I used a nut milk bag strain out the berries, much easier than a strainer! Just wish I had made more. It has a little tartness which is nice if you are like me and don’t like your drinks overly sweet.

Made this for a couple holiday parties and everybody loved it! Very easy to make, although straining the cranberries got a little messy. 🙂

Made this according to the recipe. Very good flavor. Mixed it with ginger ale and garnished with a couple frozen cranberries. Also good straight up over ice. Nice cocktail for the holidays.

I’m happy to be the first to review this gem. Wasn’t sure so I scaled it down 1/4 which was enough to steep in a pint mason jar and yielded about 8 oz. I did use frozen cranberries, accidentally found myself without the orange, and let it brew in the fridge. After four days, my only regrets are that I quartered it, and that I discovered this AFTER my Christmas Eve gathering. This looks beautiful and tastes amazing. I can’t say enough about this. So far I’ve had it straight, with lemonade, and even with a little cider. Sipping straight up is my favorite….love it! Thank you for this gem!!!
