My frozen mai tai recipe is as delicious as it is real because I spent ten years living in Hawaii at Ko O’lina. ‘Ono-licious!

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Additional Time: 1 hr
Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup white sugar
  2. 3 cups water
  3. 1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate
  4. ½ cup white rum (such as Bacardi®)
  5. ½ cup dark rum (such as Bacardi® Gold)
  6. ½ cup amaretto liqueur
  7. ¼ cup orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier®)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugar in water in a saucepan over low heat, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  2. Pour frozen limeade, white rum, dark rum, amaretto liqueur, and orange liqueur into sugar mixture. Mix well.
  3. Pour mixture into a bowl and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  4. Scoop frozen concoction into cocktail glasses and serve.
  5. You can also pour the mixture into a glass pitcher and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours instead of freezing. Serve over ice in cocktail glasses.

This was a very SWEET and really tasty frozen bevy. I loved that every bit of it had flavor. Even when I drank all the liquid and began eating the slush, the slush had just as much flavor as the drink. Which I thought was great! I personally would add less of the Grand Marnier and amaretto. The amaretto stands out and can be a bit overpowering. I followed the directions as directed using Bacardi silver, Captain Morgan, Grand Marnier and well amaretto.
