Dairy-Free Almond Joy® Hot Chocolate

  4.8 – 4 reviews

This delicious, dairy-free hot chocolate is simple to make and tastes much like regular hot chocolate made with milk. You may use any non-dairy milk, but I used a coconut-almond milk blend to give it a coconut flavor.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 cup

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup coconut-almond milk blend
  2. 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1 ½ teaspoons maple syrup
  4. 1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
  5. 1 splash vanilla extract
  6. 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Stir coconut-almond milk blend, cocoa powder, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt together in a saucepan over medium heat; stir with a whisk to dissolve solids while the mixture heats to your desired temperature.
  2. Cook’s Notes:
  3. For an even sweeter drink, increase brown sugar amount to 2 tablespoons.
  4. For a thicker, creamier beverage, add a splash of dairy-free creamer.

I used only almond milk, no coconut, and it was still really yummy! I LOVE hot chocolate and this is the first dairy free recipe that even my kids loved!
