Coffee Liqueur II

It’s now possible for you to create this excellent liqueur at home and offer it to your friends as a Christmas gift. This is amazing served over ice and with cream.

Servings: 20
Yield: 2 1/2 quarts

Ingredients

  1. 6 cups water
  2. ½ cup instant coffee granules
  3. 6 cups white sugar
  4. ½ cup vanilla extract
  5. ½ gallon vodka

Instructions

  1. In a 4 quart saucepan, bring to a boil the water, instant coffee and sugar. Simmer for 2 hours, then allow to cool. When cool, add vanilla and vodka.

I decided to try out a homemade liqueur to see what it would taste like, not knowing what it would taste like I reduced the quantity substantially. I didn’t have any vanilla beans so this one looked pretty easy given I had vanilla extract. I wanted the flavor to be a little bit more intense so I used an instant espresso. This was good, but I really do think a Vanilla Bean would’ve enhanced the flavor more.

Very good, in our opinion it is very sugary. Instead of using instant coffee we used 8oz of liquid coffee syrup that you make with a toddy coffee maker.
