Blueberry Vanilla Graham Protein Smoothie

My father used to make this dish every summer when I was a child. The sort of pepper you use can be changed to achieve a range of heat levels. I prefer mine to be mild. From chicken to steak to French fries, this barbecue sauce tastes great on everything! Sauce needs to be refrigerated.

  1. 1 cup coconut water, or to taste
  2. 1 banana, frozen

  4. ¼ cup kale (Optional)
  5. ¼ cup spinach (Optional)
  6. 2 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
  7. 1 tablespoon almond butter
  8. 1 tablespoon hemp seed hearts

  10. 1 tablespoon oats
  11. 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (Optional)
  12. 2 tablespoons graham cracker crumbs

Instructions

  1. Combine coconut water, banana, blueberries, kale, spinach, dates, almond butter, hemp seed hearts, flax seeds, oats, and protein powder in a blender. Cover and puree until smooth. Top with graham cracker crumbs.

  3. Water or any kind of nut milk can be substituted for coconut water.
  4. Unflavored protein powder can be substituted for the vanilla protein powder.
  5. If you’d like your smoothie thicker, add a few ice cubes. If you like a smoothie that’s a little runnier .. add more liquid.

This made a pretty thick smoothie, so I added another cup of coconut water. Other than that, it was delicious for a protein shake!!
