I just got a new Magic Bullet personal blender. It’s been a few years since I had one but when i used to, i made smoothies and milkshakes several times a week. Now it’s been long enough that i had forgotten how to make them without a recipe. Blueberry banana is my fav flavor so i found this recipe. It’s excellent. I cut the amounts to 1/4 of what the recipe says, so i made 1 serving each time. Any more would have been too much for the magic bullet blender cup. For flavor- like most of the reviewers, i added no extra sugar. It is plenty sweet already from the ice cream and banana; i consider it the perfect sweetness level. I do plan to try my next one without adding vanilla extract. It was a bit much with the ice cream being vanilla already, but still delicious with it added. Idea: now, I’m not sure if this would work the same in a milkshake as it does in a smoothie, BUT i used to make this flavor of smoothie all the time using ice and milk (Vanilla almond milk, actually) and no ice cream, and I would add in some fresh baby spinach leaves (just a small handful is good). It increases the nutritional value of the drink and has almost no impact on the flavor or texture! Kind of an amazing trick, especially with 3 kids to feed. I’m looking fwd to trying that with a milkshake and hope it works! 🙂 —Thank you so much for this simple, delicious recipe!
Just like what my mom makes. I knew it was easy just couldn’t remember measurements. I didn’t add any sugar either and it was delicious. I tried to cut this down for one person but didn’t quite work.
No sugar. Perfect!
This was definitely delicious. I think I’d add a little more milk and you definitely don’t need to add the extra sugar.
Yes, I would make it again. Was so good and refreshing.
Irresistible! This is by far one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had. Don’t add sugar, though. When I made it for the first time I didn’t even bother with the sugar. I’m having a feeling that sugar makes the milkshake either extremely sweet, or just makes no difference at all. But other then that, it was awesome, and I suggest it to everyone!
Excellent! I used almond milk and Splenda and it came out delicious!
I love this milkshake. The very first time I made it, the family loved it.
Delicious and very healthy. I used half almond milk and half regular milk. Came out perfect.
Four and a half stars. I used homemade vanilla greek frozen yogurt and cut the milk back for a thicker milkshake. This was a little on the sweet side, I think because my banana was really quite ripe. Next time I make this, I will omit the sugar all together. Kids and I enjoyed this very much.
This was very tasty. I made 1 serving instead of 4. I will try it again sometime with the vanilla ice cream, but I wanted to make it even healthier for myself today. I used vanilla flavored dairy free cashew ice cream I made in my Vitamix the day before, unsweetened almond milk for the dairy milk, and a packet of raw Truvia for the granulated sugar. I kept all ingredient amounts exactly the same for 1 serving of the recipe. Also, I only had frozen blueberries and bananas, so that is what I used. My Vitamix blender blends frozen fruit no problem, so I always have a ton on hand. It probably just made a it a little thicker until it melted some. I wish I could have taken a picture, but I drank it too fast! Nice flavor.
