This adult counterpart of the cold slushies we gulped down as children is this alcoholic, fruity frozen sangria. Such a cool night in the summer. Cheers!

Ingredients
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup ice cubes, crushed
- ⅓ cup frozen blueberries
- ⅓ cup fresh raspberries
- ⅓ cup frozen strawberries
- ¼ cup orange-flavored liqueur
- ½ orange, juiced
- 1 tablespoon white sugar, or more to taste
Instructions
- Combine red wine, ice cubes, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, orange-flavored liqueur, orange juice, and sugar in a blender; process until smooth. Serve immediately or freeze.
- The alcohol content keeps the mixture from freezing hard. The ice crystals melt pretty quickly so you can break it up and serve it in glasses, with or without spoons to scoop up the boozy slush.
- Substitute brandy for the orange-flavored liqueur, if desired.

This is absolutely delicious. I’ve made it with crushed ice and over the rocks. I like leaving a little of the pulp from the fruit.
Tried this after seeing the recipe in the Aug/Sep 2019 AllRecipes magazine with the “hidden gem” tag. The recipe printed there was slightly different and I’ve typed it below: 1.5 cups sweet red wine, Zinfandel, or red blend 1.5 – 2 cups ice cubes 1 orange, juiced (about 1/3 cup) 1/3 cup frozen blueberries 1/3 cup frozen raspberries 1/3 cup frozen strawberries 1/4 cup orange liqueur 2 Tbsp sugar, or more to taste Fresh berries (optional) Followed the magazine recipe exactly using Rosatello Rose wine. Used a bit more ice until the right slushy consistency. This was so light and refreshing and looked so pretty. Definitely will make this again and I see this being a summertime tradition. This is one of those recipes that can be easily adapted to what you have on hand.
Excellent, this was a hit!
Simply put, this was DELICIOUS! Cool, refreshing, dare I say, somewhat healthy? I made this in advance, stirring about every 12 hours. I put the container in the fridge, about an hour prior to serving, and I think I should have put it on the counter. When I ran it through the blender, it had the consistency of a smoothie, and we had to have spoons, lol! It needed a bit more thaw time than I gave it. I used a cup of sugar in a quadrupled recipe, and I moistened the glasses with an orange slice and rimmed the glasses with sparkling sugar. Very festive, and everyone enjoyed this cool concoction on a very hot summer evening. Thanks for the recipe!
Fun, fruity. not very sweet, use all the sugar, very seedy, you could strain it. I froze it and then it didn’t pour, so had to wait a few minutes for it to thaw some.
Super delicious
I used a bag of frozen mixed berries instead, and it was delicious!
Was delicious!
It was a hit with my garden club members! I made minimal changes, like using frozen mixed berries instead of ice. I didn’t have an orange but that didn’t seem to make a difference. Putting it in the freezer made it very slushy, which was perfect. I will make this again. Such a refreshing recipe
Grrreat enjoyed by all
Delicious, easy, will definitely make again! Left out the added sugar and thought it tasted fine!
It was very good. I used a Syrah and even then the orange flavor from the liqueur and juice almost overpowered. But still very good.
This absolutely perfect! Just what your hot evening needs. I started off by refrigerating the wine, Cointreau, and orange juice before making this.
This stuff is delicious! I left out the orange liqueur because I didn’t have any. The second time I made this I didn’t measure, just eye-balled it, and it worked just was well. Yum!
Perfect! No need to veer from the recipe. Will make this every time I have company!
Made these last night. Didn’t have orange liqueur so I added a little extra sugar. They were fabulous. Everyone loved them. Can’t wait to make them again!
Subbed Grey Goose for the orange liqueur, and that worked fine. Also, used a moderately dry Cabernet Sauvignon, didn’t add sugar, used frozen concentrate instead of juice… Maybe one day I’ll actually make a recipe as specified, but in the meantime, this one was a good guideline to a pleasant drink.
This is great! very refreshing on a hot summer’s evening! Will make again..
I think this is amazing! I do not like crazy sweet drinks and I thought this was perfect! I rimmed my glass with sugar:)
So easy to make. Everyone loved it. Not too sweet – which I find a lot of Sangria.
