For many years, serving this as an appetizer or even a snack has been very popular. It freezes extremely nicely and is always wonderful to have when friends drop over. If you like nuts, roll the cheese ball in about a cup of pecans that have been chopped. accompanied by crackers. For the finest flavor, put in the fridge overnight.

Ingredients

  1. 1 (8 ounce) jar dried beef
  2. ¼ cup Italian-style salad dressing
  3. 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Process dried beef, Italian-style dressing and cream cheese in a food processor until well blended. Transfer to a medium bowl. Chill until firm enough to form into a ball, about 2 hours.

Everyone LOVED this! I halved it and combined everything a bit differently…Instead of mixing it all in the food processor, I Just chopped the beef (that I rinsed and dried) very finely, then mixed it by hand with the cream cheese and dressing. I did make this the night before as suggested. We all really enjoyed the flavor of this and I also enjoyed the simplicity! I will be making this again~YUM! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

The recipe shouldn’t be salty. The dried beef has to be washed off before using. Most brands of dried beef will state this on the package. Hope this helps.

My mom has made this recipe so many times throughout her life (she passed away Easter morning). The person who rated this poorly obviously didn’t follow the instructions. It is an excellent dish to sit out and enjoy with crackers.
