I had a job at Casa Del Sol in Saranac Lake, New York, while attending culinary school. The chile verde was my preferred dish. In this variation, I gently boil big pieces of chicken in a green sauce made from tomatillos and chilies.

Excellent. Spreads nicely picking up no crumbs! Added a tiny bit more milk than called for and a little sage food coloring per granddaughters request
6 cups of powter surger more water if to buttery
I’m unsure what you all did but my frosting came out like soup. Mother’s Day fail.
Great texture for frosting a cake – very spreadable, good flavor, and you can sweeten it up by adding additional powdered sugar. I used butter-flavored Crisco because I wasn’t obsessed with keeping the icing white-white-white, and it was just fine. You can also add a little [fill-in-the-blank] extract to give it some kick. I added about two drops of pumpkin pie spice extract (it’s fall!), and it was fantastic.
This made a great frosting that seemed to go so well with the white cake. Easy to make and use
This is a a quick and easy recipe. Tasty frosting too.
This is a FANTASTIC WHITE cake frosting! Great for a professional wedding cake. Love the pure white you get! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Very creamy and super easy to make. Never heard of powdered butter, so did what many suggested and used 1/4 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening. Beautiful white color. Good flavor, but actually a bit too sweet for me, Can’t believe saying that :o)
Love this icing, with all my lactose friends this is perfect for them.
I omitted the shortening, salt, and butter flavor powder and used real salted butter instead. I beat the frosting well. It was a very good product, tasted great, looked white, and held its shape. I would make again.
very yummy!
Easy and very good!
Awesome! Substituted Earth Balance for shortening and 2% milk for water. The perfect quick delicious frosting recipe!
This was great. I didn’t have the powered butter flavoring on hand so I took the suggestion from another reviewer to substitute one stick of butter for 1/2 C shortening. The flavor was good, but it was too thick so I added milk while mixing to thin it out a bit. This was for my daughter’s birthday party and was a hit with all the children!
Awesome and easy frosting! Tastes great too 🙂 for the base I did the exact recipe but when it came to piping designs I used 1/8 cup water to make it thicker! Either way really good!
Perfect!
Love it! It’s now my go-to buttercream! I use 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup shortening as other reviewers suggested and whip it until it’s light and fluffy.
I left out the butter powder and salt. I added 3 teaspoons of imitation almond extract and 6 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to decorate a chocolate cake. It turned out quite well and added just enough sweetness. I live in a hot climate, so I have to use shortening based frostings to avoid refrigerating every cake I make.
I put in 32oz of powdered sugar(which is equivalent to 4 cups) and it looks like a hard white ball!
This recipe was delicious! I added a little more water than it called for because my first batch of icing was a little too stiff for piping. The second batch with more water worked perfect. It tasted great and lots of people that tried it thought it was done professionally. Love it! Will definitely keep this one in my recipe box for future birthdays and special occasions!
I put this on a white cake. It was beautiful. I followed the suggestions for using part shortening, part sugar. Next time I will go w/ 1/2 c butter & 1/4 c shortening; hoping for a better flavor. I did not have the butter buds on hand. That may be the key in the flavor.
