Snow Ice Cream

a quick recipe for crab legs that only takes 20 minutes to prepare and has a garlicky butter sauce! In the end, I bought some snow crab legs that were on sale at the market. I finally came up with this amazing crab leg dish by combining a few ingredients since I wanted something a little different than simple steamed, boiled, or grilled crab legs. With shrimp, this meal would be fantastic.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 1 gallon snow
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  4. 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. When it starts to snow, place a large, clean bowl outside to collect flakes.
  2. When the bowl is full, mix in sugar and vanilla. Stir in just enough milk for desired consistency. Serve at once.

there’s three feet of snow outside and this is the best part of it. absolutely delicious. I topped with berries and put it on a fresh brownie. Very refreshing.

I loved it

This recipe is really good, but it isn’t the same as regular ice cream, so bear that in mind. Make sure to add more vanilla and sugar as needed.

I made the 1 C sugar, 2C milk, T vanilla. Very tasty. Suggestion tho, mix bought ingredients inside an hour ahead and refrigerate, this lets the sugar dissolve and then put your mix bowl in the snow to freeze it, then mix all ingredients. Much more Ice Cream look, touch and taste.

I’ve made snow cream for years…40 to be exact! The best way to mix up is mix the milk, sugar and vanilla to your preferred taste first. Then you add snow until you reach the desired consistency. This makes it much easier and you don’t have to frustratingly have to keep adding one ingredient or another.

I loved it! me and my siblings made it and it was great!

I have made this since my little brother and I found a recipe without eggs (grosses me out). This can easily be scaled down and adjusted to your tastes (using chocolate, different sauces and add ins). I’ve always mixed the sugar, vanilla, and milk together and then the snow, which helps get rid of some of the grainy-ness that comes along with adding sugar after. Love to make this with my toddler–and she can help!

Awesome

It’s an okay recipe but you have to make sure you refrigerate the ice cream once you’re done adding the sugar, milk, etc or else it doesn’t turn out.

We didn’t have sugar so we used powered sugar. The kids loved it.

Fun and very easy. My 3 yr old thought this was the “best ice cream” lol It really was pretty good, we each had a bowl. I reduced this recipe for 2 servings. Before I went out to gather clean snow, I whisked together the milk, sugar and vanilla until well mixed and a little frothy. With a plastic rice scooper, I scooped snow into a plastic 8 cup measure bowl with my 4 cups needed. Then used the scoop to mix the milk mixture into the snow. No lumps, just smooth snowy ice cream. Great use of a snow day and making memories as I remember my mom doing with me.

We love making snow ice cream in the winter, but I’ve always made it with condensed milk. I didn’t have any on hand, so I came across this recipe. It was really good…we even cut it into 1/4 of the original recipe due to the amount of snow we had. Easy to do and was a hit with our kiddos. **One tip…be sure to pack the snow when you measure it. That way it will be a good consistency when you mix the other ingredients.

I made a smaller batch but this is a very good recipe. I will be making some more tomorrow!!

Very good, but if you want to flavor it, use kifier instead of milk!

I didn’t use a full gallon and just kind of guessed on the measurements. It still was good though.

I grew up on this. We never used sugar. Just vanilla flavoring and sweetened condensed milk. It always comes out smooth and creamy.

A complete blast from the past! We made this growing up in OK. Not much snow here in coastal VA but when it comes down, this is a wonderful and easy treat to bring some of the outside fun indoors!

This is just like what my mother would make when it snowed. My husband agreed that it was what his mother made. Now my seven yr old has gotten to experience this unforgettable treat.

I made this and it ended in a disaster it looked DISCUSTING! but i think that you should just make it outside so that it doesn’t melt

Delicious and super fun to make! Also very close to snow cones, you just need to add soda. Would make again.
