My mother made these delicious bars, and the recipe is provided here.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 2 (3.5 ounce) packages microwave popcorn, popped
  2. ½ cup margarine
  3. ¾ cup brown sugar
  4. ¼ cup peanut butter
  5. 20 large marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Pour popcorn into a large bowl.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine margarine, brown sugar, and marshmallows. Cook at 1-minute intervals in the microwave, stirring between each interval, until the mixture is melted and smooth. Stir in the peanut butter until well blended.
  3. Pour the brown sugar mixture over the popcorn, and stir quickly to coat the corn before it cools.

Tastes amazing and very simple

Unfortunately I used popcorn out of the jar not the microwave variety. Way too much popcorn. The flavor was o.k. but not worth the mess I made. It deserves another chance. Rarely do I mess with a recipe the first go around. Microwave popcorn has had some bad press so we use regular. Back to the drawing board.

This is very tasty, but I would not be able to eat it after it was first made. It was, as expected, gooey and sticky. I’ve been on a popcorn kick lately and have made several other sweet popcorn recipes that are gooey after adding the sweet syrup mixture. The other recipes that I’ve tried called for putting it in a warm oven for a specified amount of time. So, I did that with this one, too. I spread the popcorn on a parchment-lined sheet and baked in a 250F oven for 25 min, tossing about half-way through. After removing from the oven and as it cooled, I broke up the pieces. This definitely needs salt, so I gave it a good sprinkling of sea salt as it cooled. I used mini marshmallows, that would equal 10 marshmallows for the half-recipe that I made. I agree with other reviewers who mentioned that the peanut butter needs to be increased a bit. A delicious, sweet and addicting treat!

Made it exactly according to directions, but halved the recipe. It is delicious! After the first few bites, I sprinkled on some coarse sea salt for a sweet & salty flavor. Highly recommend! Perfect party food or sweet treat from panty ingredients.

Mine turned out amazing but instead of normal Peanut Butter I did Wow Butter because my brother is allergic to Peanuts, it still turned out good

Oh boy addictive! I used a half cup peanut butter as per others suggestions. I also agree with other reviews that this needs to be baked after the initial coating to “dry” the popcorn or it’s too gooey. Then you get the right consistency of coated popcorn. I baked at 300 degree oven for a half hour tossing after 10 minute intervals

The peanut butter popcorn was great. In fact, maybe too great. Ate the whole thing in about two sittings.

This was amazing. I followed the recipe exact- but put the popcorn in the oven at 300 for 20 minutes to make it more crisp.

Yummy goodness. But do take the time and bake for 20-30 mins.

As per my 14 year-old-son, “this stuff is awesome!” Next time, I will add some dry roasted peanuts for added texture and crunch.

Amazing! Used a cup of marshmallow fluff instead of marshmallows

great – made following other people’s suggestions to bake in the oven

It’s just great

I’ve made this twice, both times weighing out 3.5 ounces of plain unpopped kernels, then cooking them on the stove — both times this was more than enough popcorn for the amount of mallow mixture. I used butter instead of margarine, added a bit more peanut butter, some dry roasted peanuts, and kosher salt. Based on others’ suggestions I also baked it at 200ºF for 30 minutes to crisp it up.

Love this popcorn w/ a few tweaks. I make it with air-popped popcorn & then put it in the oven @ 200 degrees for 30 minutes (stir every 10 minutes) to crisp up a bit. I also spread it out over wax paper & drizzle melted chocolate almond bark over it… to make it even better! Dangerous stuff…. so good. : )

Incredible!!! I followed this exact recipe and it was divine but incredibly sweet. For my second batch I used natural peanut butter and twice as much. In my opinion that tasted even better! I then drizzled melted milk chocolate on top. Huge hit!! Tip: keep stored in the freezer for a crunchy treat!
