Peanut Butter Apple Crisp

  4.0 – 2 reviews  • Apple Dessert Recipes

This custard was created when I needed to use up some milk and eggs. I tried substituting amaretto liquor for the almond extract, and it was quite delicious. You can change the flavorings to your liking, but don’t use too much almond flavoring because it is quite potent. Don’t forget to take a bath as well!

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups peeled and sliced apples
  2. ½ cup white sugar
  3. 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  4. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. ¼ teaspoon salt
  6. 2 tablespoons butter
  7. 2 tablespoons peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a shallow 8-inch baking pan.
  2. Line apple slices on the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl. Stir in butter and peanut butter until crumbly. Spread mixture over the apples in the pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until top is golden brown, about 45 minutes.
  5. My sister says I could double the apple but not the topping. Sometimes I don’t pay much attention to her.

I tossed apples in lemon juice and some Cinnamon, nutmeg. I used nutty peanut butter. I really liked it so did my friends. I want to experiment with more spices like ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon. So tasty and without all that butter and flour, just tasty and comforting, no guilt to indulge. Thanks!

Other than adding an additional cup of sliced apples I made this as written. If I make this again I would bake it in a casserole dish that is taller and not as wide, I like mine a little thicker. Thanks for sharing. This was made for the Allstar challenge: #Facelessnomore
