When served warm with vanilla ice cream, this straightforward blackberry cobbler is excellent. In the summer, I used to gather blackberries for my mother to use in this delicious dessert.

I added a Tsp of vanilla to the batter and it was perfect. I put the stick of butter in my baking in the oven for a minute. When it melts, I swirl it up the sides and then pour the batter in.
This is the best cobbler I have ever made. My son-in-law agrees. And simple to make
Note that it calls for self-rising flour. If you don’t have you can add 1 1/2 tsps of baking powder and 1/2 tsps of salt. Will definitely make again
If you increase the milk until you get a thick pancake batter, it works pretty good, and the recipe becomes easy to remember: stick of butter, cup of sugar, cup of SR flour, cup of milk and 2 cups of berries; easy peazy. I use frozen blackberries in sugar, so I drain off the juice and dust the berries with flour. I made it with only 3/4 cup of milk once but it was WAY too thick.
This is an easy and very tasty treat. I agree that a little more milk makes it better. Instead of half a cup of milk, I used 3/4 cup. It was awesome. I will definitely make this again. The next time we may use peaches…
My family loves this. I make it several times during the summer. I also make it and gift it to friends. Everyone loves it. I highly recommend this recipe.
First class cobbler. I made peach, but still delicious.
This is THE cobbler recipe I have been searching for. Buttery, sweet and the cake is the perfect proportion to the amount of berries. I made zero changes and I can’t even think of one thing I would do differently next time.
This is one of many times I made this and just is so easy and delicious , let’s not forget the vanilla ice cream on top !
This was a big waste of time and ingredients to make. I followed the recipe exactly as stated except I doubled the ingredients and put in a 13 x 9 pan because I had a lot of berries to use. It did not look anything like the pictures when I was done. I see someone else had the same problem as me. All the cake stayed at the bottom and blackberries stayed at the top. My husband wouldn’t eat it. He said it was way too sweet. I ended up throwing a lot out in the garbage. Don’t waste your time with this recipe.
OMG!!! This is the easiest recipe and very delicious. I had all the ingredients and needed to make a quick dessert for company. From start to finish it took 45 minutes. Served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Will be making this again real soon. cook’n’sherry
Great recipe – simple and great tasting. I made this for my niece and she loved it!! She said she loves the crust and there was a perfect amount of it. I will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks for sharing.
I substituted xylitol for half of the sugar
This cobbler is so simple and good! You can decide to make it 2 hours before dinner and be ready for ice cream!
Sweet and buttery, this original recipe really made me rethink how wonderful blackberry cobblers can really be! My whole family loved this as a delightful treat, and I’ll make it often as possible. 100/5 stars!
Following commenters’ suggestions, I cut back a bit on the sugar. Used skim milk, only kind I have. Used a rectangular 6-by-10.5 pan, same area as the 8-by-8 in the recipe. Turned out fine and I already had to shoo my wife away from picking at it before dinner.
Followed the recipe and it came out perfectly. I did have about 3 cups of blackberries but I kept everything else the same.
Very tasty and easy to put together. I doubled the recipe for a large gathering. I served with homemade ice cream and it was a big hit!
I used this recipe with peaches instead of blackberries. I reduced the sugar by 1/4 cup because I had ripe, sweet peaches. I also added I tsp of cinnamon with the peaches. It was delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Never made any type of cobbler till I made this one and it was a hit! I am proud of myself.
This tasted amazing and was very easy for my kids to help make. We picked fresh blackberries and used them in the cobbler. It was very heavy so if we make it again we would add less sugar and a little less butter. We served it hot with vanilla ice cream and it was a favorite all around.
