My preferred salsa for summertime grilling is this one! Everyone enjoys the food I’ve served to visitors and family. Serve alongside grilled fish, pork, or chicken breast.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 25 mins
Servings: 72
Yield: 6 dozen

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup margarine
  2. 1 cup butter
  3. 2 cups light brown sugar
  4. 2 cups white sugar
  5. 4 eggs
  6. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  7. 4 cups all-purpose flour
  8. 2 teaspoons baking soda
  9. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  10. 1 teaspoon salt
  11. 4 cups rolled oats
  12. 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  13. 1 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a very large bowl, cream together the margarine, butter, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and rolled oats; stir into the sugar mixture. Mix in chocolate chips and candy-coated chocolate pieces. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden. If you like chewy cookies, take them out before they look done.

For this recipe I added 1 1/2 cups butter, 1 cup peanut butter ( a little more), only 3 cups of oats and less chocolate chips, only about a cup and a 1/4. I think they would have been so dry had I added another cup of oats. They were very tasty! I love my cookies chewy so I took these out after 10 minutes and made them fairly large- bigger than a golf ball. Will definitely make again.

This was my first Monster cookie try and this recipe was easy to follow and the cookies came out great. I didn’t give it all 5 stars because it seemed like it could be a bit better. I didn’t realize tat some monster cookies have peanut butter in them and I LOVE peanut butter. I will try again.

These cookies are amazing! I replaced half of the flour with peanut butter powder. What a great decision!

These did not turn out at all for me. It was a big crumbing mess that didn’t form into a cookie and I threw the whole thing out. I was confident I mixed the right amounts so when I looked for a different recipe I noticed none of the other monster cookie recipes had flour. My second batch with no flour (from a different recipe) was perfect. Obviously lots of people had good results on this one but I’ll stick with the no flour recipes.

These were yummy! I added a cup of peanut butter chips too. I also used what I had open and added a very full cup + of milk chocolate chips to a half cup of semi sweet chocolate chips. I topped some of these with m&ms just to make them look better for the kids. I used a small ice cream scooper so they were fairly large. Many people love them!

made it twice. Once for chuch sale and once for a bake sale. Everyone loved them. I did switch up the chips the second time and added a cup of sea salt carmel chips for one of the cups of chocolate chips.

I gave these 3 stars because they tasted really good, but like some other reviewers said the dough was really dense and dry and the cookies would not spread in the oven at all. I looked up some other recipes to compare ingredients and amounts, and this recipe looks to have too much flour/oats in it compared to the fat content. The only changes I made was to substitute peanut butter for the margarine ( I halved the recipe and used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup peanut butter). There seems to be a lot of good reviews too, so I am not sure what they did differently to make the cookies come out right. Very good flavor though, I ate a fair amount of the cookie dough lol.

I love these cookies so much! They’re always perfectly chewy, and I love a cookie with a respectable amount of oatmeal. The chocolate/candy pieces can be subbed out for any kind of mix-in, I just did toffee and cashew and they turned out awesome as well! Thanks so much Linda, these are my go to cookie recipe!

Delicious cookies. I followed the recipe except I added a handful of flour at the end and they turned out great”.

Made as written and they are way too sweet. I will try again and reduce the sugar by half. The sweetness is really overpowering.

I substituted peanut butter for the full amount of margarine. Then, I flip-flopped the amounts for chocolate chips and M&M’s, because who doesn’t love M&M’s? Brought these to my bowling league night and they disappeared! I also had requests for the recipe. I had left some at home for my husband, who doesn’t like sweets that much, and he ate them up quickly! I would call this recipe a definite success!!

FABULOUS recipe. Cookies are one of my favorite things to make, but this was my first attempt at Monster Cookies, and the family *loved* them. My husband asked me to make some for him to take to work next week so he can brag about them. That’s quite a vote of confidence. They only variation I made was to use Butter Flavor Crisco instead of butter and margarine. I use it for all my cookies; it’s my “secret ingredient”. I also added a handful of chopped peanuts, just for a bit of texture and salt. This is a keeper!

I made these for my Ski Club kiddos. What a hit on the ride home!

Great recipe! Was asked to make cookies on short notice, so had to use what I had in the house. I never have margarine, so I used all butter. Didn’t have any candy pieces, so used coconut and butterscotch chips along with the chocolate chips. I also forgot to put in the salt. Turned out great!!

I added peanut butter and nuts included the butter and margarin. I mixed it in a stand mixer. They came out perfect, I couldn’t ask for more.
