I’m 65 years old and have made many, many pecan pie recipes over the years. This recipe is hands down the BEST. People who said it’s too sweet need to make a fruit pie. Pecan pie is supposed to be sweet. This is recipe is perfect.

Great and easy recipe, I make it several times a year. Everyone loves it.

I am so happy I tried this recipe! It was my first attempt at a “regular” pecan pie. I have previously made them with bourbon and with chocolate, which were good. However, this KY Pecan Pie was not nearly as sweet as the others I made previously. I like that it allowed the flavor of the crust to come through and compliment the pecan filling. I will absolutely make this again!

Easy & excellent! Have made several times over the holidays & it’s been a huge hit (w changes due to other reviewers, so 4 stars for this recipe, 5 stars w changes). Added 1tsp vanilla & an extra 1/2c pecans (1.5c total), & reduced brown sugar to 3/4c.

I toasted my pecans in a dry pan for 5-10 min…. . Used good Irish Butter and added some vanilla to the mix… I also followed another reviewer, and placed 1/2 of the pecans on the bottom of the pie shell and mixed the rest in the syrup mix. This pie is decadent !

I made this pie exactly as written. Pecan pie is always sweet, as was this one. Overall, it was good, but lacked something in the body of the pie. I will try another recipe next time.

Unfortunately, my pie never set. It looked perfect on top and because I followed the directions meticulously, I was very surprised when I cut into it to see a crisp top and a soupy, syrupy mess at the bottom. It seemed like too few pecans as well. I was hopeful for this recipe but it did not work for me, so I will try something else the next time around.

This is a recipe that I have been using for over 30 years. I do add a teaspoon of vanilla for that special flavour. As far as it been being too sweet, it is a pecan pie!

It was easy and delicious. I added 1 tsp vanilla to the mix. It disappeared fast.

I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a tablespoon of Kentucky bourbon to the mixture and it was so good.

This recipe was gIven to me by my mother in 1975. It was published in the newspaper column called Dear Abby. According to the article Abby was given the recipe by the chef of the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington. Ky. My mother gave me the clipping and I make this pie every Christmas. It is a tradition and a family favourite.

I made this as one of my Thanksgiving desserts. I substatuted and used both light and dark corn syrup . I addition since I was using one of my ceramic 10 inch pie pans I addad an additional 50% to all ingredients. My wife and even thought it was perfect.

I decided last week I wanted to learn how to make delicious pies. I have fond memories of my friend’s mothers kentucky pecan pie so I chose this as pie #1. Turned out perfectly!! Not too sweet as some reviews have indicated. I did use a light corn syrup to achieve this. My chef buddy who knows what is what, tried out the pie and was impressed. I love this recipe and will experiment some but the basic recipe as is is excellent. Next I want to learn to make my own crust. That will seal the deal with this pie for sure.

Best pie I’ve ever had

Looked and tasted good as I followed the initial recipe minus taking some suggestions of cooking at a lower temperature for a little longer. The only change I would make is because the pie was very sweet so I would cut back on some of the sugar.
