Want something scrumptious in the morning, but it must be quick and easy? It ends here. I would most readily relate it to a deluxe cheese grits recipe, however there is no cheese in this dish, and grits normally need a lot more labor (unless they are fast). My 10-year-old son usually wanted eggs and sausage for breakfast, so I gave him this option. The oatmeal’s inclusion of fruits and brown sugar was insufficient.

Ingredients

  1. 1 ¼ cups butter
  2. 2 cups white sugar
  3. 2 egg
  4. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  5. 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  6. ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  7. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  8. ½ teaspoon salt
  9. 54 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
  10. ⅓ cup granulated sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In large bowl mix butter and sugar till fluffy, add eggs and vanilla mix well. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt, and add to creamed mixture.
  3. Roll dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter then roll in white sugar. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Place unwrapped chocolate kiss in the center of each cookie while still hot. Let cool and enjoy!

Super delicious. It’s a very dense, brownie-like cookie. I put a Valentine twist on mine and used heart chocolates and heart sprinkles. I would absolutely recommend this recipe to a friend

THANK YOU! It is a chewy, chocolate,fudgy cookie. I might make it as my cookie for this year’s Cookie Exchange (yes it’s months away but I like to try new recipes). I followed the recipe with just a slight change in the end – added a little Godiva chocolate liquor – either way it would have been wonderful. I used a small scooper. I did wrap it and put it in the fridge for 2 days because of time constraints on my end. I kept the dough in the fridge between batches to keep them less sticky. I did half with and without the sugar – again, didn’t make too much of a difference. I did run out of kisses, so I improvised and used different small candies (mini Reese’s, some truffles and slivered almonds with Craisins- the craisins offset the sweetness a little)

Need more flour. The dough was very difficult to work with and the cookies spread a lot and flattened out too much. But they taste good! Used peppermint kisses

These came out so well. Did chill the dough for a bit but did not find it all that sticky to begin with. Butter needs to still be on the cold side, otherwise dough is too wet. These will be perfect for Christmas.

DELICIOUS! Definitely refrigerate dough, I did mine overnight. I rolled the balls in powdered sugar before baking and used peppermint kisses. The white chocolate melts down and doesn’t keep the kiss shape, but they still look very festive, like candy cane buttons. I also baked several without the kisses. Adding this to my annual Christmas cookie list!

I pretty much followed the recipe but I used dark cocoa powder and I added a teaspoon of peppermint extract. I used the mint truffle kisses. They turned out amazing!

I followed reipe but put in 2 tsp baking soda by mistake. I didn’t have candy kisses so I used chocolate chips instead. The cookies spread up v thin but tastes really good n was very soft. Everyone loves it.

Delish and pretty! I had no real trouble with the batter. I think it is because I live in what is considered high desert: very dry. Perhaps those who have problems with it being too sticky should just add 1/8 to 1/4 cup more flour. I rolled the balls in white sugar mixed with some colored sugar and they came out looking quite pretty. usually I don’t like making cookies, but these were actually fun and I will certainly make them again.

These are wonderful! I don’t know if I made them so much smaller that I got 82 cookies, but when I ran out of kisses, I used pecan halves. They tasted great with the pecans, too, but the nuts fell out sometimes.

I am not a huge chocolate fan. I could have simply eaten the cookies without the kiss on top. However, my boyfriend loves chocolate and these were for him. I used almond kisses, which he especially liked. I made them per the recipe and preferred working with the dough unchilled. The dough became like clay after sitting in the fridge for too long. Still, these were very popular cookies and I will make them again.
