I made this exactly o the recipe except I used sultanas instead of raisins. Really lovely taste and texture. Will defo make again.
Super easy cake recipe to make. I added 1 tsp vanilla as well, which added some depth to the flavor. Although I chopped the apples, I’d recommend shredding the apples, to eliminate large pieces of apple and creating a smoother composition.
Unbelievable cake! I doubled the recipe and baked in a bundt pan. Extremely moist and flavorful, my family loved it! I topped with a caramel glaze. Will definitely be making again!
This recipe seems to be missing a moisture ingredient. As is I doubled the recipe…it was very dry and crumbly so I added about 11.5 ounces of applesauce to the doubled amount which made it more like a cake batter! It turned out moist and delicious! I had enough for one bundt cake and six small muffins.
Great
Delicious
Delicious! Recipe as stated is for loaf cake size (not bundt, which needs a double recipe). I did reduce sugar to 2/3 C, using half light brown and half white, and it was plenty sweet. For 9×5 pan, bake time was about 40 min.
Recipe should specify pan size or volume. I used a standard bundt pan and it was too big really. Cake flavor is good but think nutmeg would be a good addition. Next time I will use half butter. I can always taste oil in cakes. My husband thought it was good though and ate it happily.
Did not turn out well at all. Left it in the oven for an extra 10 minutes and it was still more like sticky pudding.
So when I made it I had to make 4 loaves so I did just the standard recipe 4 times. Well I followed everything and it was a crumbly texture so I just added another egg and it was perfect
I really wanted to like this recipe but it just didn’t work for me. The batter was so dry I couldn’t begin to fold in the apples, raisins, and nuts. I added about 1/4 cup of milk to thin it so there weren’t chunks of dry ingredients. I used a Bundt pan and doubled the recipe. It took 1 hour 15 minutes to bake and was fairly crusty. Even though I had generously greased and floured the pan, it stuck badly and fell apart. I had to pry half of it out with a rubber scraper. I added a caramel glaze I got from another recipe to help hold it together. It did have a good flavor but I won’t try it again.
This cake did not turn out at all like the picture shows. There was very little batter – which was more like cookie dough than cake/bread batter. The finished product was very dry and fell apart coming out of the pan. I was so hopeful for a delicious cake but was very disappointed.
This cake is delicious and moist. I only had brown sugar so used that. Didn’t have to use a mixer. Made one on Sunday and it went so fast I did a double batch today. Grand children and husband loved it.
This cake is delicious. Very moist. It takes about 40 minutes to bake in a 325 degree oven. I’ll make this again and agin.
Took this to a luncheon and it received rave reviews. Our son, who doesn’t care for dessert, liked this cake. My only change was to slice the apples thin instead of cubing them. Baked for 1 hour in an 8×11 glass pan at 350 degrees. The cake was almost caramelized and quite delicious. Will definitely makes this again.
Delicious!
I made 3 changes. 1. 3 Cups chopped apples (no nuts or raisins) The dough was stiff and way too dry so: 2. 1/2 Cup oil 3. 2 eggs It was great. My picky eaters loved it. I served it with spiced whipped cream.
very good – following the recipe exactly. i will definitely make again
Did not make any changes my family loved it. Will makes again
Very easy and delicious – I made no changes to the recipe. It was a big hit and I will save the recipe to use again.
I made this twice once following the recipe exactly the second with minor tweaks from previous comments.
