Easy Stovetop Peach Cobbler

  4.4 – 56 reviews  • Peach Dessert Recipes

Popular Southern Thai cuisine includes this dish. It is an excellent recipe for a working woman because it is tasty, easy to make, and incredibly quick. Appropriate complement to papaya salad.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  1. 1 (29 ounce) can sliced peaches
  2. ¼ cup white sugar
  3. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (Optional)
  4. 1 (9 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  5. 4 teaspoons margarine

Instructions

  1. Discard 1/2 of the juice from canned peaches and pour peaches with remaining juice into a large saucepan. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Cover with cake mix in an even layer. Place margarine on top in the center.
  2. Cover the saucepan with a lid and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Once you see steam escaping the saucepan, reduce heat to medium-low, and continue cooking for 10 minutes; do not lift the lid during this time. Remove from heat and allow to stand with the lid on for 15 minutes.
  3. The cooked cake mix should look like dumplings.

Loved this recipe especially in hot summer and not having to use oven! I used fresh peaches from my tree. I had Betty Crockers streusel quick bread in hand and used that for the topping. For some liquid I used orange juice. So yummy!

This cobbler was made well. I put in keto sugar and keto cake mix. The peaches were full diet. The mix was well accepted by my church. First place for dessert.

Amazing recipe for being stovetop! Going to make it again! I put more cinnamon and sugar on the batter after I layer it! More sugary goodness!!

No, it was too dry and crumbly. The cake mix didn’t absolve the juices.

Haven’t tasted it yet but it looks great so far

I have made it several times and it turned out perfectly every time. I did not add any sugar to canned peaches but I added blueberries. Very tasty.

This is my recipe from a LONG time ago! Thank you for the reviews. I suppose I should have been a little more explicit when I typed the recipe out. Use peaches in LIGHT syrup or natural juices or it will be TOO sweet! And I used Jiffy yellow cake mix. I’m not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I have Townscraft pots and pans. Those of you who are familiar will know that they work similar to a pressure cooker. Anyway, I think it’s pretty darn good especially for the beginner! Thanks everyone!

Make sure you use good peaches. I used Target brand peaches, which were kind of bitter, and it ruined the recipe. After switching to Dole or Libby’s (I forget which) in heavy syrup, the recipe was great (although as with many other commenters, I left out the additional sugar). The other thing I would point out is that my local grocery store had a 10 oz. bag of instant cobbler mix that might work even better than cake mix. I bought some for my next camping trip, but I haven’t tried it yet so can’t comment on it. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

I was very skeptical of this recipe. It just seemed too easy and quick for peach cobbler. Not the case. This is an amazing throw down dessert that I will continue making for years to come. Thank y’all and enjoy.

Easy and tasty 🙂

So good and easy! Definitely my go-to dessert when it’s too hot to turn on the oven.

I liked this recipe. It was more like peach cake than dumpling but still good. I didn’t use as much sugar after reading other reviews. I kinda sprinkled it on. LOL. Still yummy.

Easy and yummy! Remember to use half the box of cake mix. Recipe calls for 9 ounces. Most are 15. Did not use sugar. If you use fruit in heavy syrup you don’t need extra sugar. Used cinnamon. I like reading the reviews because they usually help. I’ll be making this again! Get the ice cream!!!!

Very easy to make and very good. Will try other flavors!

This is my most favorite cobbler recipe. I recently used spice cake mix instead of yellow…holey cow! So amazing! Thank you for this!

Didn’t have access to an oven, so I thought I’d give this a try. I followed the advice to leave out the sugar and use a half cup of cake mix. I also chopped up the butter and put little pieces all around. It was perfect!

this was easy

Quick, easy and tasty. Make sure the lid fits well and don’t peek! Follow the recipe to the letter and it is a success!

If you use canned peaches, listen to everyone else and leave the sugar out. Used only 1/2 the package of the cake mix and melted the butter before putting it on top. Added the cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg. Cooked exactly as said in recipe. Amazing! And so simple!! Thank you!!

Easy as a Dump Cake in the Dutch Oven with easier clean-up. Nothing to change in this recipe. But since it’s only my husband and I, the measured amounts were cut in half. It was a wonderful dessert on the mountain in the camper. And I got to make it again at the end of our trip!

This was an easy and amazing recipe. You have to save a little more than half of the peach juice and it comes out great. will probably never bake one again
