Easy Blueberry Sauce

I prepared this to serve with pancakes for my kids. Additionally fantastic as a grilled sauce. swiftly, simply, and delectably.

Ingredients

  1. ¾ cup fresh blueberries
  2. ½ cup white sugar
  3. ¼ cup water
  4. 1 teaspoon cornstarch (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine blueberries, sugar, water, and cornstarch in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  2. Use 1/4 cup water if making this sauce with frozen blueberries.
  3. For a thicker sauce, add 1 teaspoon cornstarch.

This is now my go-to blueberry sauce. Also used strawberries with equally excellent results. After about the third time I made it, I added about 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Just a personal preference, but this is perfection just as written.

We loved it. I doubled the berries and kept the sugar the same. We did not have fresh berries, so had to use frozen and just cut the water in half. We will never have waffles w/o this again!

Easy is right! Great on pancakes, crepes, cheesecake, you name. I prefer to burst the berries for a thick, smoother sauce and add a squeeze of lemon juice, but either way it’s just what I wanted – simple, quick and tasty.

Awesome! Made it for waffles. I used blackberries instead of blueberries and I mashed them while cooking. Double the ingredients if you are making for mroe than a couple of people. I will never by syrup again!

I needed a small amount of sauce for a refrigerator pie topping. I made it exactly as written, using frozen blueberries. It was good. Will use this recipe again with a couple of changes. I will add some lemon juice and cut back on the sugar.

I used 1/4C sugar. Don’t forget to sift the cornstarch in, otherwise it will get clumpy and look weird.
