Cream Cheese Mints

  4.3 – 248 reviews  • Mints

Everyone seems to think they are the best recipe for holiday candies. It can be the melt-in-your-mouth quality or the delicious peppermint flavor. It’s also possible that this is the simplest candy recipe you can find. These can be frozen for a few months if they are kept in an airtight container. These can also be molded into lovely forms by pushing them into candy molds, rolling in granulated sugar, and then releasing them.

yummy! Used stand mixer, and about 4 oz. of cream cheese and 4 cups of sugar. Mixed food coloring in before sugar and got a nice even color. We rolled them and then cut them like in the picture, but excited about all kinds of ways to form them.

As others have suggested, use at least FOUR ounces of cream cheese, VERY softened. MELT the butter before adding. And no way does it yield 8 dozen, more like 2-1/2 doz. (Maybe if the balls are only 1/4 inch in diameter, it might yield 8 dozen, maybe not.)

These just didn’t harden well. They tasted good, but don’t keep. Expect to keep them in the freezer until they’re gone.

The dough was pretty dry with only 3 ounces of cream cheese and 1 tbsp of butter. It made it hard to form the balls and they broke easily when pressing down with a fork. I might add another ounce of cream cheese if I made them again, they weren’t as creamy as I expected and since it was such a dry dough, I think it could improve them . I used powdered erythritol instead of sugar and it worked well.

These are the type of mints I remember making as a girl helping mom with baby and bridal showers. Made for my sister in law’s 60th birthday party and they were a hit. Freeze well to pull out for later too.

I loved it so much

I by no means can cook nor bake so these could’ve turned out better. They tasted so good. I read the reviews about dipping them into chocolate to make them taste like York peppermint patties. I totally agree with them. I made them as a gift and didn’t have the time to do so. I recommended that they do so and I will when I make them again.

I made these vegan using Trader Joe’s vegan cream cheese and miyoko’s vegan butter. The dough really needs a lot of powdered sugar to be manageable and you should treat it like you would cookie dough…roll it in your hand really well before putting it on the cookie sheet. Whole fam loved it. Cannot tell it was vegan at all.

I don’t know how you all were so successful with this recipe. My attempt totally flopped, and I’m really disappointed. Maybe I did something wrong. I don’t know. I don’t think I’ll be trying this agaian.

I have been making these since I received the recipe card in a mail pack 20 years ago. My children are all grown up and still come home at Christmas and look for these. These are an essential part of Christmas, light little bites are perfect to finish off supper, or to have in pretty crystal dishes scattered around the house.

these are fantastic and very easy. I used peppermint extract. A bit more than 2 drops. Roll the dough into about 8 long skinny logs and cut small sections. Super easy

loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent! Good in small bites. Creamy, almost fudge-like. In fact, some thought it was white fudge! I did use 1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract because I didn’t have peppermint oil on hand. Everyone loved these. Definitely a keeper!
