My family still loves making banana bread with this recipe, which I have been using for a while. This bread is extremely moist due to the inclusion of cream cheese and bananas.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  3. ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  4. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  5. ½ teaspoon salt
  6. ¾ cup raisins
  7. 2 cups rolled oats
  8. ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  9. ½ cup white sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Layer ingredients in the following order into a 1 quart, wide mouth canning jar: Flour mixture, raisins, rolled oats, brown sugar, and white sugar. It will be a tight fit, make sure you firmly pack down each layer before adding the next layer.
  3. Attach a tag with the following instructions: Oatmeal Raisin Spice Cookies 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. 2. Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly mix. 3. Mix in 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened. Stir in one slightly beaten egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix until completely blended. You will need to finish mixing with your hands. Shape into balls the size of walnuts. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheets 2 inches apart. 4. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes in preheated oven, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet. Transfer cookies to wire racks to finish cooling.

One of my favorite cookie mix in a jar recipes. I just packed everything in very tightly. It does fit. I add the raisins last.

Best oatmeal cookies ever! These are also amazing if you trade the raisins for a combo of white chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. I am grateful for my KitchenAid mixer everytime I make these,however. The dough is super hard to mix.

Super good and very addictive. I just found they were a bit too buttery. I made these as gifts 2 years ago and I still have a few jars, so I made one today and they definitely stay good. For my next batch I might add chocolate chips and cut the butter down a bit. Still a great cookie though. Don’t know what people are talking about being flat, mine are no flatter than a normal cookie and very soft and chewy.

I made this as a gift to give to all the people at my son’s daycare for the Holiday’s and it was a huge success. I made a batch to test out as well and brought them in to work. I can honestly say these were the best oatmeal raisin cookies I’ve ever had and everyone who tried them loved them. I made no modifications to the ingredients themselves, just the order of the layers. I used the order suggested in the first comment (flour mixture on the bottom followed by, brown sugar, white sugar, oats and raisins on top). The jars looked great. You do have to make sure you pack the layers tight so that everything fits. Turned out great all around and will definitely be my holiday gift for next year as well.

K, I’m confused. How is 5 cups + 3 teaspoons supposed to fit in a 4 cup (1 ounce) jar? I pushed a pushed but alas it didn’t work. I ended up cutting the oats down to 1 1/2, raisins to 1/2 and sugars and flour each by a bit. I’m giving them as gifts and I’m nervous.

very good recipe. I did only a half a batch to see if it would turn out. Easy to make and most ingredients you would have on hand. Would make a great gift as well for the holidays or hostess gift.

I loved this recipe, gave it out to all my co-workers for christmas and they loved them too. When making them t home I actually substitute the 3/4 cups of raisins for 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, 1/4 cup raisins and 1/4 cup cranberries and call them trailmix cookies. mmmmmmmm, taste just like the ones from Tim Hortons

For a Christmas treat – I swaped the raisins for dried Cranberries – fantastic, and the spices in the cookies go well with the cranberries. I love this recipe, and have used it for a few years now. I started by giving the jars for Christmas presents – and to a friend with a new baby, they loved them. I have since been making this recipe over and over as its good value – you get a lot of cookies out of it and I haven’t found anyone who doesn’t love them yet.

I was really looking forward to using this recipe, but I was very disappointed with the results. The cookies were flat and greasy, that is NOT a good oatmeal cookie. I would never give this as a gift much less make it at home. I ended up crumbling the entire batch into granola instead.
