This recipe was a success for me. Changes: We omitted the sweetened condensed milk and used REAL homemade whipped cream. Real whip cream is so delicious, so I recommend going for the real thing! I read another review that mentioned not liking the synthetic taste of the cool whip and instant pudding. I can relate as I prefer fresh ingredients too. I might try this with cooked pudding in the future. I don’t own a trifle container, so I used a pretty, glass salad bowl and had a bit left over to put in a small individual sized glass salad bowl. The chocolate trifle is rich and elegant, so we made small servings. I topped it off with a high quality salted carmel chocolate bar, broken in large pieces. PS: As one reviewer suggested, I mixed whipped cream with pudding for one of the layers.

This is a definite hit with the family! I just made the brownies according to the package the second time I made this and it worked just as well. I microplaned half of a Dove chocolate for the top and it looked so attractive. This is a new family favorite!

If in a rush I use chocolate chips on top instead of shaved chocolate.

I made it and it is straight up to DIE FOR ! I added a small amount of fresh orange juice to the plain cool whip layers and topped with fresh orange rind, a small dusting of cocoa , and some chocolate curls from a Mirage chocolate bar. Fantastic !

This has been a family favorite for years. I add walnuts to the brownie mixture and more Cool Whip. I also add Heath bits in between layers and sprinkle on top. Soooo good!

This recipe is good. However, I did change some things. One thing I did change was the whipping cream. Like other comments, I did my own whipping cream, which made the recipe overall taste better.
