  2. ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  3. 4 eggs, beaten
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 3 cups all-purpose flour

I am sorry to say that I did not have any luck with this recipe. I baked it for an hour – and still the middle did not come up clean with a toothpick. I did attempt to evenly spread the mixture in the baking dish prior baking. Finally I took the dish out of the oven. The vast majority of the recipe sank and was too moist as it was not baking through. *** please note that right before attempting to bake this recipe – I had successfully baked another cake recipe. So it was not the oven. Disappointed that I could not give a better review.

Not sure why, cake was very dry and not much flavor.

The cake was easy to make and was very flavorful. I substituted plain greek yogurt for the sour cream. It did take about 40 minutes rather than 30 minutes to bake. Yummy!

I used powdered sugar, not icing, for the top. We loved it!

While this cake did come together easily and looked/smelled great, we didn’t care for it, unfortunately. The texture was off for us and it came out very dry and bland. I did top it with chocolate frosting, which helped a bit flavor-wise , but in the end, my family didn’t like it.
