German chocolate cake mix, hot fudge dessert topping, and chocolate-dipped English toffee are the main ingredients in this better-than-sex cake recipe. It’s incredible!

Ingredients

  1. 1 (15.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
  2. 1 ¼ cups water
  3. ½ cup vegetable oil
  4. 3 large eggs
  5. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  6. 2 cups hot fudge topping
  7. 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  8. 4 (1.4 ounce) bars English toffee-flavored candy, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
  2. Mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until well combined. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and set the baking dish on a wire rack.
  4. While the cake is still very warm, poke holes all over the top with the end of a wooden spoon. Pour condensed milk over cake and let cool, 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Pour hot fudge topping over cooled cake and let set, 20 to 30 minutes.
  6. Spread whipped topping over top and sprinkle with crushed toffee.

I’ve been making this cake for at least 20 years now. After preparing the batter, I sprinkle 1 cup of mini chocolate chips over it before baking. I use the 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk followed by a 17 oz jar of Mrs. Richardson’s Butterscotch Caramel topping. Just before serving, I sprinkle 1/2 cup of toffee bits and 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans over the Kool Whip. Because it is so rich and so sweet, I find I can cut the 13 by 9 cake into 24 pieces and everyone is satisfied.

My go to cake for any family function and 2 daughters birthdays -I like to add caramel ice cream topping with the condensed milk and warm both together then pour in the holes – top with half the english toffee bits you can now buy then warm hot fudge topping in the microwave and pour over that while all still warm – put in the fridge until cool (overnight) and top with the whipped topping -to die for

My son likes snickers, so I use 1 cup of chocolate syrup and 1 cup of caramel and then use crushed up snickers for topping!! Delicious!! I make it every year for his birthday and everyone raves.

This is also good if you use caramel ice cream topping in place of the hot fudge and either chopped Snickers or Butterfinger Bars in place of the english toffee. This is one of those cakes that you bring to a potluck or family gathering and it’s gone as soon as it hits the table.

I love this cake. I have been making it for years. I sometimes use only fudge no caramel with fresh strawberries instead of the heath candy bar. It so good. I love it both ways.

Loved it! Added Heath toffee bits and mini choc chips instead of chopped candy bars and heated the cond milk with caramel and used as much hot fudge as needed 2 cover the cake. Excellent recipe!
