My husband loves these potatoes au gratin so much that every time I prepare them, he celebrates! This traditional French meal is incredibly addicting because to the combination of the creamy cheese sauce and delicate potatoes. Along with a green salad and some French bread, serve potatoes au gratin with roast pork loin or beef tenderloin. To add variation, try out other cheeses.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 2 cups white sugar
  3. 1 cup crushed pineapple
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  6. 1 pinch salt
  7. 1 cup white sugar
  8. 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
  9. ½ cup butter
  10. 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix flour, 2 cups white sugar, pineapple, eggs, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl until evenly combined; pour into prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
  4. Combine 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk, and butter together in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil mixture for 1 minute; stir in coconut. Pour mixture evenly over hot cake.
