Ave and Molly’s Brownie Cookie Bars

Delicious! When I serve this, I always receive a “ummm!” in return. The Danish features an apple filling and a glaze made from browned butter on top.

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ cups white sugar
  2. 1 cup butter, softened
  3. ½ cup packed brown sugar
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  7. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  8. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  9. ½ teaspoon salt
  10. 1 ⅓ cups chocolate chips
  11. ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
  12. ½ cup white sugar
  13. ½ cup chocolate chips
  14. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Beat 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter, and brown sugar together in a bowl until fluffy; add eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together into a separate bowl. Add to egg mixture. Stir in 1 1/3 cups chocolate chips. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until edges are browned and crisp, 10 to 12 minutes. Cool cookies for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Pour heavy cream, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup chocolate chips, in that order, in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until melted, 3 to 5 minutes. Pour over cookies in pan.
