I used half butter half oil, whole wheat flour and only 1/3 cup maple syrup

Must add cinnamon and decrease sugar. Good recipe!

I doubled the recipe and added 1 T flour, 1 T corn starch and some cinnamon and nutmeg. I mixed that together with the apples and maple syrup so that the apples were well coated then made the topping as instructed. So easy and delicious. This was a huge hit and I will definitely be making this again…and again…

This is easy to put together & so versatile. I’ve tried making this with all apples, another time with Pears & Apples & some raisins. I added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon & dash of nutmeg into the fruit, OMG it gives it such a nice kick! The original recipe was way too sweet for me…so 2nd time i made it I only used 2 tablespoons of maple syrup over the apple mixture, and it was just right. This recipe is a keeper!

I made this recipes as is, with the exception of adding 1 teaspoon on pumpkin pie spice to the topping mixture. As others stated, the bottom portion did turn out very watery. (It may depend on what apples are used) However, it tasted delicious. I will add a bit of flour to the apples next time to help thicken the juice. A scoop of vanilla ice cream would have been the perfect addition!

This was a really delicious crumble recipe! I loved the topping and the sticky sweet apple filling. Wonderful with a scoop of ice cream – and I totally think you can call this “apple oatmeal” and serve for breakfast

This was good and a bit different from your usual crisp. I did like the maple syrup flavor, but the end result has a lot of liquid. Next time, I would toss my apples with some flour before adding the maple syrup. Also, I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the topping. I served it with salted caramel ice cream, chopped nuts and a caramel drizzle. Super easy, and I usually have all of these ingredients on hand so I’ll give it another try for sure.

Really delicious, and if you don’t want to do a pie crust, this is the apple pie recipe for you! My only change was to add a pinch of salt to the crumb topping, because I used unsalted butter. The apple flavor comes through, very well, and the topping adds a nice texture. The submitter did not include any spices, so if you like cinnamon or nutmeg, be sure to add them.

This is so yummy! I made it and took it to work to share. It was almost all gone by 11am. The maple really adds lovely flavor. Will definitely be making this recipe again!

This was amazing! I made a couple of small adjustments and will again when I definitely re-make this! First, I added cinnamon and nutmeg as someone else suggested, (About 1/2 tsp each, I didn’t measure) and about 1/3 cup of walnuts to the crumble mix. The end result was delicious! I used 100% Canadian Maple Syrup. A definite must. What I will change next time? I will reduce the amount of sugar used for the crumble. I used a couple of teaspoons less than written because I read what others had written… but I love sweets! This was almost too sweet even for me. So I added milk to cut the sweet when I ate it (hot of course)

I made this with the small pie apples from an old tree in our yard and our local maple syrup. This is the best crumble I have ever eaten! I plan to try making it with some of the apple slices I am freezing to eat during our long Minnesota winter.

This was very delicious and very sweet. Of course, I might have forgotten one of the apples… but I might go a little lighter on the sugar next time. I had no brown sugar so I used white sugar. Toward the end of baking I used the broil setting to brown the top a little. I have eaten it all in 2 days…bad on me!!

Really easy recipe and turned out great. Will make again. I grated some fresh cinnamon into the recipe. Yum!!
Jennifer Mendoza
Had a nice flavor….I didn’t change anything and would make it again.
Bryan Simmons
Really delicious! I used fresh Zestor apples.
Ryan Hale
Excellent! The only thing I added was cinnamon sprinkled on top
Morgan Brown
Fantastic! I’ll make this again for sure! I did add a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of the apples after the maple syrup. Yum!

Very easy to make with the kids. Tastes great. I did add cinnamon and some ground ginger.
Bruce Green
I added cinnamon. It was delicious!

So bomb. After cooking the apples made it a bit liquidy. I just spooned the liquid out.
William Mueller
This was so easy & delicious! You can serve it with ice cream for an added twist but it’s fabulous on its own!
