Turned out great. I cut back on the sugar. My husband and I prefer our Apple pie a bit tart.
Easy and so good. My husband requested his favorite pie which is apple. Instead of buying a pre-made one I decided to try my hand. I have never made a apple pie and tried this recipe. He was impressed and so was i!
Notes: reduce white sugar to 1/2 cup. Made 2 pies using 9 apples. Froze one uncooked. I’ll add notes after frozen one is cooked. For us, double topping is to much but it may need more.
Rock-solid recipe. Followed it closely, but also added crushed pecans and in the second one, a small box of raisins, too. Tossed in a shake of ground clove to the apple coating. I used Gala apples that were just a bit too soft for eating, IMO. Keebler shortbread crust.
This pie tasted great, however the crumb is soggy after the first day, so I probably won’t be making it again. I liked that the apples were sliced thinly so that they were cooked thru and softened, rather than just cutting the apple into 8ths. I did add an extra tablespoon of flour to make the sauce thicker. That was a good idea.
This was awesome, the crumbles came out just right, the filling was not runny, and it was perfectly sweet, not overly sweet at all. I made this exactly as written except I used Vegan butter instead of real butter. Since I am not an experienced pie maker I took other reviews advice and used 6 medium Cosmic Crisp apples and I ended up- with way too much filling. I only had one crust so I just made a crumble in a 2nd pie dish. Even so, there was enough crumble for both pies. Thanks so much for the recipe!
The recipe turned out really great I prefer no nuts in mine it was really easy to make and it’s absolutely beautiful.
Yummo! Came out perfect the 1st time. I let the apples, sugar, cinnamon, flour sit in a bowl for awhile to release a bunch of juice before I put it in the crust. Also the amount of topping was fine. I certainly wouldn’t double it.
I did make this pie but was very disappointed in what was supposed to be the crumb part. The crumb didn’t come out the same way that it has in my past.
It turned out okay but needed to cook way longer than 25 minutes and not a lot of topping
This turned out to be one of the best apple pies I’ve ever made! Thank you for sharing such a great recipe!
Easy to make and delicious.
Turned out great
Amazingly simple and delicious. I added walnuts and fresh red currants from my garden. I also used only 1/2 cup of sugar rather than the 3/4 called for, and a bit more spices. Wonderful taste and texture.
Good recipe for a quick apple pie, although it is pretty sweet. I was in a hurry to make a fast dessert, so used a purchased pie crust. It was still a bit warm when I served it and it was a bit runny. Maybe it would be better if fully cooled.
Came out fantastic
Delicious!
Made this for Easter and was amazing. I did add the lemon juice and increased flour in apples to 3TBS. I doubled the crumb topping but think I will decrease the sugar in the topping next time. Also used margarine instead of butter since we are vegan.
I have made this twice now. I chose Honeycrisp apples and did choose to use lemon juice after sampling the apples I got. I was leary of raisins and walnuts but wanted to see so I just scattered some of each. Well, we absolutely loved it. S much so, we have declared it to be the best apple pie that we have ever tasted! My husband says it is apple pie crack; it is that good to him! Ingredient choices are everything so I would like to note that 1) I used a raisin medley that I got from bulk food section of Winco, and 2) I always toast my nuts for baking after learning about the improved flavor from America’s Test Kitchen. *Using Honey Crisp apples gave me a pie that was not runny. I don’t know if that is what can make a difference or not for those who used Granny Smith apples.
I loved this recipe. It was soo good. I was really impressed. Next time I will NOT tell my sister. She devoured it..lol
I would make this again and again. Presentation was just perfect. Plenty moist without being runny. I used a 10” glass pie plate and used a couple more apples. I kept the other ingredients the same, however it took l hour and 10 min to be completely done at 375. But it was great !!
