A snack mix is a modification of this recipe for Chex Mix. The soccer team at our school has asked me for this so frequently that it has now been designated as the official soccer snack mix. Once the mixture has finished frying, I occasionally add a few extra bagel chips because that is our preferred step.

I made this and it turned out great, I used apple pie can mix and a “butter” cake mix I found. I used a 7×10 pan, not all of the cake mix. I melted all the butter and mostly covered all the top with melted butter. It was great, fast and easy when you don’t have a lot of time. Will absolutely make again. It’s a 5 star for convenience for sure.
I just made it, following the recipe, and I ended up with the now cooked peaches swimming in the liquid and a topping of uncooked cake flour. It was a gummy, although still tasty, mess.
Made this last night for the first time. I used a 8×11 glass dish and loaded peaches until I couldn’t see the bottom of the dish but were still in a single layer, then poured about 1/2 of the light syrup from the peaches jar. Poured the entire Duncan Hines yellow cake mix over the peaches and then shook the dish a little bit to even out. Sliced the butter in pads (like another reviewer suggested), and covered the cake mix evenly with the pads. Baked until top was golden brown, and then left in a little longer bc I was concerned cake mix was too thick and hadn’t cooked all the way through. It turned out beautifully. Kids loved it, I loved it, and it was incredibly easy. Next time, I will use a slightly larger baking dish, use more peaches, and the cake mix will be a thinner layer. It will be perfect. Highly recommend.
No changes. I have made this several times; always a favorite.
very easy as well as yummy!
Where I’m from, we call this a “Dump Cake”. Most commonly, I make it with crushed pineapples (from a can) and cherry pie filling. It usually only takes me like 45 minutes to bake. The key is to evenly distribute the butter over the raw cake mix powder. I don’t even melt the butter, I just slice up a stick and put a dab every half inch, or so. It’s so versatile and can be done with any fruit base.
Noo changes I have made this cobbler several times in a Dutch Oven also.
I followed the ingredients cooked it for the 50 minutes I used a can of peaches cake mix and the butter I pulled it out and it’s very wet runny and big lumps and uncooked not good at all I was very embarrassed of it sorry but this really doesn’t work unless you mix I believe the batter with the peach sauce
I always made fun of the folks who say a dessert is too sweet. Desserts are supposed to be sweet, right? Well, this one is so sweet even a dessert-lover like me couldn’t eat it. Never, ever again.
Super easy dessert. I used 1 can if peaches and 1 of plums. I also sprinkled chopped pecans before butter.
Delicious. Easy to make. Everyone loved it. Made from ingredients I had on hand.
I made this with blueberry pie filling. instead of just pouring the butter on top of dry cake mix, i combined them to make a crumble topping. worked out beautifully.
This was crazy easy. Like other’s I added vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Will definitely make again.
Actually, I’ve been making this grand dessert for years. The most common name for it is dump cake. Originally got the recipe from my auntie. Easy to make and customize.
It looks and taste like mush.
It was quick and easy! And it was pretty good too. A little sweeter than a “real down home southern” peach cobbler but if you need a desert in a hurry for cheap you CAN NOT go wrong!
I bought a fresh pineapple, sliced and grilled it, then chopped it. Put the chopped pineapple in a sauté pan w 1/2 stick butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar, cook until liquid thickens. Then use the recipe as normal. Love it!
I was just in to double check cooking time. My grandmother taught me this recipe years ago. Try it with a couple cans if blueberry pie filling and a can of pineapple chunks or slices (canned)
My husband LUVS IT!!
Family favorite go-to cobble recipe. My kids love this with fresh whipped cream! I have tried it with a variety of other fruits. Peaches, blueberries and a berry mix, the kids found equally delicious.
This needs tweaking. Two cans of sliced, undrained peaches were not enough to cover the bottom of a 9×13″ pan, so I used a 9″ square pan. The crust was thick, powdery and salty in places, and caramelized in others; the filling was good, but sloppy wet. It’s a good concept that needs more peaches in the larger pan, probably partially drained. Worth working on.
