Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
- 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 12 taco shells
- Your favorite taco toppings, such as shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes and green chilies, taco seasoning mix, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Spoon the beef mixture into the taco shells. Top with your favorite taco toppings and serve.
Tips:
- You can use any type of ground beef that you like. I used 90% lean ground beef, but you could also use ground turkey or chicken.
- If you don’t have taco seasoning mix, you can make your own by combining 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- You can adjust the amount of taco seasoning to your liking. If you like your tacos spicy, you can add more taco seasoning.
- You can serve the tacos with your favorite sides, such as rice, beans, or chips and salsa.
